Smallville Hits Season Highs in Total Audience and Adults 18-49, Scoring Time Period's Best Performance in Over a Year
The CW again posted solid year-to-year gains for the week ending 10/18/09 in key categories, including 21% in women 18-34 (1.7/5), 18% in adults 18-34 (1.3/4), 17% in women 18-49 (1.4/4) and 22% in adults 18-49 (1.1/3) versus its weekly primetime average a year ago (week ending 10/19/08).
MONDAY � 10/12/09
Last week's One Tree Hill climbed to its most watched episode of the season (2.55mil), and the second most watched since February. One Tree Hill also matched its season best in adults 18-49 (1.2/3).
Compared to the previous week, One Tree Hill improved 22% with women 18-34 (2.2/6), 15% in adults 18-34 (1.5/4), 14% in women 18-49 (1.6/4), 9% in adults 18-49 (1.2/3) and 20% in total viewers (2.55mil).
Gossip Girl was flat with last week in adults 18-34 (1.7/5), and up 6% in women 18-49 (1.8/4), 9% in adults 18-49 (1.2/3) and 14% in total viewers (2.4mil). Gossip Girl ranked #1 in its time period with female teens (1.7/6).
Gossip Girl built on its One Tree Hill lead-in among women 18-34 (14%), adults 18-34 (13%) and women 18-49 (13%), and matched One Tree Hill in adults 18-49.
WEDNESDAY � 10/14/09
America's Next Top Model ranked second in the hour in women 18-34 (2.3/7), females 12-34 (2.1/7), persons 12-34 (1.3/4) and female teens (1.4/5).
America's Next Top Model continued to show solid growth from the first to second half hour, including 19% in women 18-34, 15% in adults 18-34, 20% in women 18-49, 15% in adults 18-49 and 14% in total viewers.
THURSDAY � 10/15/09
The CW's freshman hit The Vampire Diaries earned its largest audience (3.9mil) and best ratings in adults 18-34 (2.0/6), adults 18-49 (1.8/5) and women 18-49 (2.4/7) since its debut.
Vampire Diaries remains on a hot streak with young viewers, again ranking as Thursday's #1 show on network TV with female teens (2.7/10) and females 12-34 (2.7/9-tie). Vampire Diaries ranked second in its time period with teens (1.9/7).
Both of The CW's Thursday dramas were on the rise this week. Vampire Diaries improved 5% in adults 18-34, 6% in adults 18-49, 9% in women 18-49 and 10% in total viewers. TVD matched its week ago delivery in women 18-34 (2.7/8). Meanwhile, Supernatural saw a nice bump this week, building 8% with women 18-34 (1.4/4), 27% with women 18-49 (1.4/3) and 5% with total viewers (2.6mil).
Vampire Diaries and Supernatural have each delivered solid improvements for The CW compared to last year. Vampire is out-performing the time period a year ago by 18% in adults 18-34 (2.0/6), 69% in women 18-34 (2.7/8), 6% in adults 18-49 (1.8/5) and 50% in women 18-49 (2.4/7). In its 5th season, Supernatural remains on the upswing, building by 30% in adults 18-34 (1.3/4), 27% in women 18-34 (1.4/4) and 17% in women 18-49 (1.4/3) over its performance a year ago.
With the year-over-year increases of both shows, The CW's Thursday has improved overall by 21% in adults 18-34 (1.7/5), 50% in women 18-34 (2.1/6), 7% in adults 18-49 (1.5/4) and 36% in women 18-49 (1.9/5).
FRIDAY � 10/16/09
Smallville climbed to season highs in total viewers (2.59mil) and adults 18-49 (1.1/4). In fact, Smallville delivered the time period's best performance in these categories in over a year (since Sept. 2008).
