NBC LATE-NIGHT RATINGS RESULTS FOR THE WEEK OF NOV. 2-6
CONAN TIES 'LATE SHOW' FOR THE WEEK IN 18-49 RATING, WINS DECISIVELY IN 18-34
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - November 12, 2009 - NBC's "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" averaged a 0.9 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers overall for the week of November 2-6, tying for #1 among the broadcast networks with CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" in adult 18-49 rating and out-rating the ABC combination of "Nightline" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
In adults 18-34, Conan defeated Letterman and the ABC team of "Nightline" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" for the week, posting a 0.9 rating in 18-34 versus "Late Show's" 0.6, "Nightline's" 0.7 and "Kimmel's" 0.4. Note that Tuesday's late-night telecasts on NBC and CBS were coded as specials due to Election Day coverage and are not included in these averages.
At 12:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" delivered bigger viewer totals than CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and ABC's "Kimmel" in adults, men and women 18-34 and men 18-49.
The median age of Conan's audience last week was 47.3, nearly nine years younger than the 56.2 of both Letterman and "Nightline." At 12:35 a.m. ET last week, the median age of Jimmy Fallon's audience (44.6) was seven years younger than Kimmel's (51.9) and Ferguson's (52.2).
At 1:35 a.m. ET, "Last Call with Carson Daly" (0.3 rating in 18-49, 0.3 in 18-34) finished within a tenth of a point of ABC's Kimmel (0.4) and tied CBS's Ferguson (0.3) in the valuable adult 18-34 demo.
For the week of November 2-6, Conan's average 1.213 million adults 18-49 trailed the 1.220 of Letterman; in total viewers, Conan's audience of 2.329 million persons finished behind Letterman's 3.877 million; and in adults 18-34, Conan's 599,000 topped Letterman's 395,000. At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon's 712,000 adults 18-49 for the week trailed Ferguson's 747,000; in total viewers, Jimmy's 1.260 million finished behind Ferguson's 1.856 million; and in adults 18-34, Jimmy's 378,000 topped Ferguson's 233,000.
