NEW YORK - June 2, 2010 - Nickelodeon closes May as basic cable's number-one total day network with kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and total viewers for the month, and also scored its best-ever May performance with total viewers. According to Nielsen Media Research (4/26/10-5/30/10), Nickelodeon averaged 2.1 million total viewers, a 3.3/1.2 million K2-11 and 2.7/576,000 K6-11 for the month.

Nickelodeon's iCarly (5/1/10, 8 p.m. ET/PT) landed basic cable's number-one entertainment telecast for the month, averaging 5.4 million total viewers. The hit series also logged the number-one telecast for the month with kids 2-11 (followed by number-two ranked Victorious and number-three Big Time Rush), kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14. Year to date, iCarly is the number-one live-action series with kids 2-11.

Nickelodeon's monthly win also was fueled by SpongeBob SquarePants and The Penguins of Madagascar, which rank as May's top two animated series on broadcast and basic cable with kids 2-11. Nick also nabbed the top five preschool shows in May, with Team Umizoomi ranking as the top preschool program on all of television, followed by (#2) Dora the Explorer, (#3) Max and Ruby (#4) Go, Diego, Go!, and (#5) Ni Hao, Kai-lan.

Nick at Nite, Nick Jr., TeenNick and Nicktoons each logged their best May performances ever with total viewers.

Nick at Nite finished the month with 1.5 million total viewers and as basic cable's top network among Women 18-49 (0.7/408,000).

Nickelodeon's 24-hour preschool network, Nick Jr. had its highest-rated and most-watched May ever with both total viewers (+19%) and preschoolers (+17% in rating).

TeenNick - the only 24-hour network for and about teens - drew its highest-rated and most-watched May ever with teens 12-17 (+13% in delivery) and total viewers (+13%).

Nicktoons also posted its highest-rated and most-watched May with total viewers (+18%), K6-11 (+33% in rating), B6-11 (+27% in delivery), T9-14 (+32% in delivery) and B9-14 (+25% in rating). Nicktoons record-setting performance was driven by the premiere of Dragon Ball Z Kai (Monday, May 24, 8 - 9 p.m. ET), which set a new record as the highest-rated series premiere in the network's history with total viewers, T9-14 and B9-14.

Nickelodeon, now in its 31st year, is the number-one entertainment brand for kids. It has built a diverse, global business by putting kids first in everything it does. The company includes television programming and production in the United States and around the world, plus consumer products, online, recreation, books, and feature films. Nickelodeon's U.S. television network is seen in more than 100 million households and has been the number-one-rated basic cable network for 16 consecutive years.
