CBS First on the Night in Viewers and Adults 25-54 with Best Deliveries in Key Measures Since Premiere Week

THE MENTALIST posted its best adult 18-49 rating since last April and largest audience since its season premiere, THE BIG BANG THEORY delivered its largest audience since moving to Thursday and matched its best adult 18-49 rating on the night and RULES OF ENGAGEMENT also posted Thursday highs in viewers and key demos, according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Nov. 3.

THE BIG BANG THEORY was first in households (9.2/15), viewers (15.49m), adults 25-54 (6.5/15), adults 18-49 (5.1/15) and adults 18-34 (3.6/12). THE BIG BANG THEORY posted Thursday highs in households and viewers and matched its best Thursday performance in adults 18-49. THE BIG BANG THEORY was the night's #1 program in households, viewers, adults 25-54, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 (tied, "The Office").

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT was first in adults 25-54 (5.0/12), second in households (7.0/11, -0.1 behind FOX), viewers (11.90m) and adults 18-49 (3.7/10). RULES OF ENGAGEMENT posted its best Thursday deliveries in households, viewers and adults 18-49 and matched Thursday's best performance in adults 25-54.

PERSON OF INTEREST was first in households (7.4/11), viewers (11.66m), tied for first in adults 25-54 (3.9/09, with ABC) and averaged 2.7/07 in adults 18-49. Compared to last week, PERSON OF INTEREST was up +3% in households (from 7.2/11), +5% in adults 25-54 (from 3.7/08), even in adults 18-49 and added +40,000 viewers (from 11.62m).

At 10:00 PM, THE MENTALIST was first in households (8.6/14), viewers (13.46m), adults 25-54 (4.1/10) and adults 18-49 (2.9/08). THE MENTALIST posted its best household ratings since May 19, 2011 (two-hour season finale), best adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 ratings since Apr. 7, 2011 and largest audience since Sept. 22, 2011 (season premiere).

For the night, CBS was first in households (8.0/13), viewers (12.94m), adults 25-54 (4.6/11) and a close second in adults 18-49 (3.3/09, -0.1 behind FOX). CBS posted its best Thursday deliveries in these measures since Premiere Week Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011.

Updated Thursday ratings will be available this afternoon.

Note: DVR penetration is at 42%, up from 38% last year. Last fall, Live+7 audiences for original entertainment series on CBS gained over 1.8 million viewers, on average, over Live+ Same Day ratings, more than any other network. This season, we expect DVR penetration to continue to increase and, as a result, we expect DVR playback audiences to grow as well.

THE BIG BANG THEORY gained an additional +0.3 of a rating point in adults 18-49 to a new Thursday high of 5.4/16, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Nov. 3.

Last night's broadcast also saw its audience increase to 15.98 million, making it the third-largest audience delivery ever.

THE BIG BANG THEORY was first in households (9.4/15), viewers (15.98m), adults 25-54 (6.8/18), adults 18-49 (5.4/16) and adults 18-34 (3.8/13). THE BIG BANG THEORY posted Thursday highs in households, viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 and matched Thursday best adults 18-34 delivery.
