Drawing 22.7 Million Viewers, "New Year's Rockin' Eve-Part 1" Scores an 11-Year High, Representing its 2nd-Largest Audience in the Last 2 Decades

The New Year's Late-Night Bash Stands as ABC's 2nd-Biggest Special After the "Academy Awards," and the Net's Top Telecast Since February in Adults 18-49

"Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012 - Part 1" (11:30 p.m. -12:34 a.m.):

On the program's 40th anniversary, ABC's annual broadcast of "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012 - Part 1" pulled in an average audience of 22.7 million Total Viewers and delivered a huge 7.4 rating, 26 share among Adults 18-49 (9.5 million).

· In viewers and young adults, "New Year's Rockin' Eve" stands as ABC's 2nd-biggest special of the year after the "Academy Awards." In fact with Adults 18-49, it was the Net's highest non-sports telecast since February with the 2011 "Oscars" - since on 2/27/11.

· Widening its winning advantage over other broadcasters' New Year's Eve specials year to year, "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve - Part 1" outdelivered the combined audiences of NBC's "New Year's Eve with Carson Daly - Late Night" and Fox's "American Country NYE '11" by an astounding 94% in Total Viewers (22.7 million vs. 11.7 million - NBC and Fox combined) and 90% in Adults 18-49 (9.5 million vs. 5.0 million).

· The top New Year's Eve program on cable, Fox News Channel's "All American New Year's" (2.1 million viewers from 12:00 - 12:30 a.m.), pulled in just 9% of the overall audience delivered by "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012 - Part 1."

· Growing its overall audience for the 3rd straight year, ABC's "New Year's Rockin' Eve - Part 1" surged by 3.9 million viewers year over year (22.7 million vs. 18.8 million) to generate its most-watched telecast in 11 years (since 12/31/00), representing the program's 2nd-biggest audience in the last 2 decades. Jumping by double digits over last year with Adults 18-34 (+25% - 6.0/26 vs. 4.8/22 rating) and Adults 18-49 (+19% - 7.4/26 vs. 6.2/23), the show achieved 8-year-highs in both key young adult demos - since 12/31/03.

"Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012 - Part 2" (1:09-2:05 a.m.):

Despite the late time period, the second segment of "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest - Part 2" attracted an average audience of 5.9 million Total Viewers and a 2.3 rating, 12 share in Adults 18-49 (2.9 million).

· Shooting up by 13% in Total Viewers (5.9 million vs. 5.2 million) and by 21% in Adults 18-49 (2.3/12 vs. 1.9/10) year to year, the final segment of the show attracted its 2nd-largest audience in 10 years and equaled its highest young adult rating in 9 years - since 12/31/01 and 12/31/02, respectively.

ABC's "Nightline" Ranks No. 1 in Late-Night Across All Key Demos

Season-to-Date for the Second Straight Year, "Nightline" Ranks No. 1 in Late-Night Among Total Viewers and Adults 25-54

"Nightline" Increases Week-to-Week Among Total Viewers, A25-54 and A18-49

For the week of December 26, 2011, ABC's "Nightline" ranked No. 1 across all key target demos: Total Viewers (3.385 million), Adults 25-54 (1.362 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.039 million) according to Nielsen Media Research. "Nightline" delivered across the board week-to-week increases among Total Viewers (+1%), Adults 25-54 (+4%) and Adults 18-49 (+2%).

Season to date, "Nightline" ranks No. 1 in late-night among Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49, ahead of both NBC's "The Tonight Show" and CBS' "The Late Show," marking the 2nd straight year that the ABC program is taking the top spot in overall viewers and in the key adult news demo.

Note: Due to the Christmas holiday, all three programs were coded specials on Monday (12/26/11). In addition, due to the New Year's holiday, "ABC News: Nightline" was re-titled on Friday (12/30/11) and is excluded from the average. Ratings for these telecasts were excluded from the weekly average.

ABC News' "Nightline" is anchored by Cynthia McFadden, Terry Moran and Bill Weir. John Donvan and Juju Chang are correspondents. Jeanmarie Condon is the Executive Producer. The program airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m., ET on the ABC Television Network.
