UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - February 2, 2012 - NBC's late-night lineup has generated #1 rankings for the week of January 23-27 over the ABC and CBS time-period competition in a week of encore telecasts during which CBS's Tuesday results were excluded due to State of the Union coverage.
For the week, Jay out-delivered CBS's "Late Show" and ABC's combination of "Nightline" and "Kimmel" in viewers 18-49, total viewers and other key categories. In viewers 18-49, "Tonight" posted a 16 percent margin of victory (with 1.026 million adults 18-49 vs. 888,000). "Tonight" delivered bigger audiences than "Late Show" in adults, men and women 18-34; adults and men 18-49; adults, men and women 25-54; and total viewers.
At 12:35 a.m. ET for the week, Jimmy Fallon delivered bigger audiences than CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" in all key ratings categories.
Jay has now delivered a bigger 18-49 audience than "Late Show" for the last six weeks in a row and Jimmy Fallon has attracted a bigger 18-49 audience than "Late Late Show" for nine weeks in a row.
Through the first 19 weeks of the season, "Tonight" has increased its total-viewer margin over "Late Show" to 13 percent (3.736 million vs. 3.295 million), up from the year-ago season-to-date advantage of 8 percent. Jimmy Fallon has established a total-viewer lead over "Late Late Show" this season of 16 percent (1.799 million vs. 1.548 million), reversing the order from last year, when "Late Late Show" held a 1 percent lead. Jimmy has also increased his season-to-date lead over "Late Late Show" in adults 18-34, to 47 percent (296,000 vs. 201,000) up from last year's 29 percent, and in adults 25-54, up to 11 percent (882,000 vs. 796,000) up from 3 percent at this point last season.
