UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - June 28, 2012 - NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" have delivered #1 finishes for the second quarter of 2012 over the ABC and CBS competition in their time periods in viewers 18-49, total viewers and other key categories. For the quarter, "Tonight" averaged a 0.8 rating, 3 share in adults 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers overall and "Late Night" earned a 0.5/3 in 18-49 and 1.7 million viewers overall.

In every key ratings category -- adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers -- Jay delivered bigger second-quarter audiences than CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" and Jimmy Fallon attracted bigger audiences than "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson."

Jay increased his lead over "Late Show" to an 11 percent margin among adult 18-49 viewers in the second quarter (999,000 vs. 896,000), up from a 4 percent margin in the first quarter. In total viewers, Jay increased his advantage over "Late Show" to 23 percent in the second quarter (3.510 million vs. 2.854 million), up from 16 percent in the first quarter. Jay also beat his margins for the quarter before that, the fourth quarter of 2011, when he trailed "Late Show" in viewers 18-49 and led by 13 percent in total viewers.

At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon increased his lead over CBS's "Late Late Show" in the second quarter versus the first, up to 26 percent in viewers 18-49 (660,000 vs. 525,000), from a 17 percent advantage in the first quarter. In total viewers, Jimmy led by a 21 percent margin in the second quarter (1.676 million vs. 1.383 million), up from a 16 percent win in the first quarter. Jimmy also beat his margins from two quarters ago, the fourth quarter of 2011, when he won over "Late Late Show" by 13 percent in viewers 18-49 and 15 percent in total viewers.

Versus the year-ago second quarter, "Tonight" increased its total-viewer margin over "Late Show" to 23 percent, up from the year-ago advantage of 18 percent. Jimmy Fallon established a total-viewer lead over "Late Late Show" for the quarter of 21 percent, up from 9 percent one year ago. Jimmy also stretched his second-quarter lead over "Late Late Show" in adults 18-49 up to 26 percent from the year-ago 22 percent, in adults 18-34 up to 46 percent (255,000 vs. 175,000) from last year's 30 percent, and in adults 25-54 up to 18 percent (788,000 vs. 668,000) from 10 percent for the second quarter of 2011.

The quarter ended with the week of March 18-22, during which "Tonight" averaged a 0.7/3 in 18-49 and 3.4 million viewers overall, and generated the show's biggest 18-49 audience (954,000) since the week of May 21-25. Jimmy Fallon averaged a 0.5/2 in 18-49 and 1.6 million viewers for the week.

"Tonight" delivered a bigger 18-49 audience than "Late Show" for the 23rd time in 27 weeks while Jimmy Fallon attracted a bigger 18-49 audience than "Late Late Show" for a 30th week in a row.
