Special Wednesday Telecast of "30 Rock" Hits a Season High in Total Viewers
NBC spins the numbers for Wednesday, October 31.

[via press release from NBC]

Wednesday Results:

* From 8-8:30 p.m. ET, a special Wednesday telecast of "30 Rock" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall) matched the show's Thursday 18-49 ratings of the prior two weeks and hit a season high in total viewers (pending updates), despite the move to Wednesday to face last night's Halloween distractions. "30 Rock" also matched NBC's top 18-49 rating since October 3 in this highly competitive time period versus Fox's "X Factor," CBS's "Survivor" and ABC's "The Middle."

* From 8:30-9 p.m. ET, "Guys With Kids" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall) built on its 18-49 lead-in by 17 percent. The increase gives "Guys With Kids" a build on lead-in with each of its six telecasts to date in this time period. The only other 8:30 comedy on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox this season to build on its 18-49 lead-in even once is NBC's "Up All Night." "Guys With Kids" matched its 18-49 rating of the prior three weeks, despite last night's Halloween distractions.

* At 9 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.7/5 in adults 18-49, 6.2 million viewers overall) retained 89 percent of the 1.9 rating for last week's 300th episode and retained 94% of last week's 1.8 in these preliminary fast-affiliate ratings. Last night's "SVU" built on its lead-in by 21 percent in 18-49 rating and by 64 percent in total viewers. From its first half-hour to its second, "SVU" grew by 13 percent in both 18-49 rating (to a 1.8 from a 1.6) and total viewers (6.6 million vs. 5.9 million). "SVU" topped NBC's time-period average last season by 70 percent in 18-49 rating (with a 1.7 vs. a 1.0) and by 28 percent or 1.4 million persons in total viewers (6.234 million vs. 4.868 million) in a highly competitive time period versus ABC's "Modern Family" and "Suburgatory," CBS's "Criminal Minds" and Fox's "X Factor."

* Keep in mind that last season, "Law & Order: SVU" originals added an average of 47 percent to these next-day "live plus same day" ratings in 18-49 when Nielsen reported "live plus seven day" results.

* At 10 p.m. ET, "Chicago Fire" (1.5/4 in adults 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall) retained 88 percent of its lead-in from "SVU." From its first half-hour to its second, "Chicago Fire" grew by 7 percent in 18-49 rating, 5 percent in adults 25-54 (to a 2.0 from a 1.9) and 2 percent in total viewers (6.5 million vs. 5.4 million).

* "Chicago Fire" is the first 10 p.m. drama this week to generate a half-hour to half-hour gain in 18-49, 25-54 or total viewers (pending updates).

In Late-Night Metered Markets Wednesday night (averages currently exclude seven markets, including some of the country's biggest: New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington, Baltimore, Hartford, Providence and Columbus):

* In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.7/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.8/7; and ABC's combo of "Nightline," 3.1/8; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.0/6.

* In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.7/4; "Late Show," 0.7/3; "Nightline," 0.9/4; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.8/5.

* At 12:35 a.m., "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.4/5 in metered-market households) tied CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.4/5). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) beat "Late Late Show" (0.4/3).

* At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

NOTE: All ratings are "live plus same day" from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise indicated.
