ABC's Mix of Repeat and Original Sunday Programming Tops Fox's Lineup by Nearly 1 Million Viewers

Info on ABC's Sunday, ahead of the regular press release.

Opposite CBS with its NFL overrun-fueled lineup (Steelers-Cowboys) including the 3-hour season finale of Survivor: Philippines and NBC with another big NFL game (New England-San Francisco), ABC outdrew Fox on the night by nearly 1.0 million viewers

During the 7 o'clock hour, ABC's repeat America's Funniest Home Videos more than doubled the audience of Fox's animated comedies (The Cleveland Show/The Cleveland Show) and also led by 8% among Adults 18-49.

· In Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, the Christmas-themed AFHV marked the show's strongest repeat performance in 1 year - since 12/18/11 and 12/11/11, respectively.

From 8-9pm, ABC's special encore broadcast of Wipeout (Deck the Balls) drew more viewers than Fox's first-run Christmas-themed comedies (The Simpsons/Bob's Burgers).

· Wipeout was up from its most-recent repeat airing (on 8/9/12) by 6% in Total Viewers and by 9% in Adults 18-49.

The special also built by double-digit percentages from its first to second hour across all key Women demographics: W18-34 (+10%), W18-49 (+27%) and W25-54 (+13%).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 46% currently, from 43% at the same point in 2011. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
