Wednesday Primetime Results:
NBC won Wednesday among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49 and total viewers as:
* "Chicago Fire" delivered series records and the #1 results of the night in 18-49 (2.4/6 at 10) and total viewers (8.4 million).
* Versus its prior original, "Chicago Fire" is up 26% (2.4 vs. 1.9 on Dec. 19).
* "SVU" matched its highest rating (2.1/5) since Nov. 30, 2011.
* "Whitney" scored its highest rating (1.8/5 at 8) since its Wednesday debut on Jan. 11, 2012.
* "Guys With Kids" set a regular-slot series high in 18-49 (1.7/5 at 8:30)
* From 8-8:30 p.m. ET, "Whitney" (1.8/5 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall) tied for #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49 with a 29 percent jump versus its prior original (1.8 vs. a 1.4 on December 12). These are the top "Whitney" results in 18-49 and total viewers for the season and highest for the series since last season's Wednesday debut (2.0 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers on January 11, 2012).
* From 8:30-9 p.m. ET, "Guys With Kids" (1.7/5 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall) retained 94 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from the season-high "Whitney" to finish #1 in the half-hour among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49. This is a regular-slot series high for "Guys With Kids" in 18-49, and best rating overall excluding a 10 p.m. preview on September 12 (2.2). In total viewers, it's the top "Guys With Kids" since October 17 (4.4 million). Versus its prior original, "Guys With Kids" is up 21 percent (1.7 vs. 1.4 on December 5).
* At 9 p.m. ET, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2.1/5 in adults 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall) is #1 in the hour among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49, total viewers and all other key measures. It's the top "SVU" since the show's season premiere on September 26 (also a 2.1) and matches the show's highest 18-49 rating since November 30, 2011 (2.2). In total viewers, it's a season high and best for "SVU" since January 11, 2012 (8.4 million).
* Last night's "SVU" jumped by 31 percent versus the show's prior telecast in 18-49 rating (2.1 vs. 1.6 on December 5) and was up 26 percent or 1.6 million persons in total viewers (7.747 million vs. 6.155 million).
* Keep in mind that last season, "Law & Order: SVU" originals added an average of 47 percent to these next-day "live plus same day" ratings in 18-49 when Nielsen reported "live plus seven day" results.
* At 10 p.m. ET, "Chicago Fire" (2.4/6 in adults 18-49, 8.4 million viewers overall) set series records in 18-49 and total viewers and scored the #1 results of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in both categories. Versus its prior original, "Chicago Fire" was up 36 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 2.4 from a 1.9 ), up 30 percent in adults 25-54 (3.0 vs. 2.3) and up 25 percent or 1.7 million persons in total viewers (8.410 million vs. 6.748 million).
* "Chicago Fire" ranked #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and all other key measures
In Late-Night Metered Markets Wednesday night:
* In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 3.1/8; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.3/6; and ABC's combo of "Nightline," 2.7/6; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.4/4 with an encore.
* In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 1.0/4; "Late Show," 0.6/2; "Nightline," 0.9/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3 with an encore.
* At 12:35 a.m., "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.6/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.0/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.4/2 with an encore).
* At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
