Friday's Broadcast Ratings: Cotton Bowl Comes Up Big for FOX

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night:

FOX (11.401 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.3, #1) topped the charts with its coverage of the "AT&T Cotton Bowl: Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma" (11.401 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.3, #1).

ABC (5.836 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2) then claimed the silver with its mix of "Last Man Standing" (6.616 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T5), "Malibu Country" (6.020 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #9), "Shark Tank" (6.338 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) and "20/20" (4.854 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T5).

Next up was CBS (8.878 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) with originals from "Undercover Boss" (7.511 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3), "CSI: NY" (9.176 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T5) and "Blue Bloods" (9.947 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #8).

Meanwhile, NBC (4.477 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4) offered up encores of "Go On" (2.272 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T10), another "Go On" (1.884 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T10) and a new two-hour "Dateline NBC" (5.677 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3).

And finally, repeats of "Nikita" (0.969 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T12) and "Arrow" (1.086 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T12) on The CW (1.027 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the night. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Nikita" delivered a 0.3 rating at 8:00/7:00c and "Arrow" a 0.2 rating at 9:00/8:00c.

* In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.9/4; "Late Show," 0.6/2; "Nightline," 1.1/4; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3 with an encore.

* At 12:35 a.m., "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.9/6 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.1/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.7/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/1 with an encore).

* At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 1.0/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (1/6/12):

FOX (7.86 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.3, #1) moved into the top spot on Friday with its coverage of the "2012 AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic" (7.86 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.3, #1).

CBS (10.09 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) then had to settle for second place with fresh installments of "A Gifted Man" (8.52 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #5), "CSI: NY" (10.53 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T2) and "Blue Bloods" (11.21 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T2).

Next up was ABC (5.49 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) with the penultimate week of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (5.41 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T6), a second hour of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (6.03 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.6, #4) and "20/20" (5.04 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.3, #8).
