TNT's Coverage of the NBA Playoffs Helps Propel the Network to a Victory as Basic Cable's #1 Network in Primetime for the Month of May

TNT

TNT's coverage of the NBA Playoffs helped propel the network to a victory as basic cable's #1 network among total viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 in primetime for the month of May, as well as for the final week of the month. TNT also ranked as the #1 network on all of television in May delivery of men 18-49 and men 18-34. And in total day, TNT was basic cable's top network among adults 25-54 for the week and the month.

TNT's NBA Playoffs coverage accounted for 15 of basic cable's Top 20 telecasts in May among total viewers and all key adult demos. Leading the pack was Wednesday night's Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat, which drew more than 8.2 million viewers. The Eastern Conference Finals also chalked up 7.3 million viewers for Sunday night's Game 3 and 7 million viewers for Friday night's Game 2, rounding out basic cable's Top 3 programs for the month.

Adult Swim

Across May 2013, Adult Swim's Total Day delivery performance ranked #1 among adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 and men 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 on basic cable. Compared to May 2012, Total day delivery grew across the board: adults 18-24 grew by 15%, adults 18-34 by 11%, adults 18-49 by 7%, men 18-24 by 18%, men 18-34 by 14% and men 18-49 by 7%.

In Primetime (Broadcast definition), Adult Swim ranked #2 among all basic cable networks for delivery of adults 18-34. Compared to May 2012, Prime delivery grew by double digits across the board: adults 18-24 grew by 20%, adults 18-34 by 24%, adults 18-49 by 20%, men 18-24 by 24%, men 18-34 by 26% and men 18-49 by 17%.

New episodes of Adult Swim's original series Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell (Thursday, 12 a.m.) grew by double-digits across the board vs. the same time period last year, ranging between 10% and 33%.

Saturday night new episodes of One Piece (1 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-24 and men 18-24/18-34, while Soul Eater (1:30 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-24 & 18-34 and all key men, and Naruto (12:30 a.m.) ranked #1 in its timeslot among men 18-24. New episodes of all TOONAMI block show premieres earned mostly double-digit gains across key adults and men vs. the same time period last year.

Monday premieres of Family Guy (11p) and American Dad (10:30p) saw gains across key adults vs. the same time period year ago.

TBS

The TBS original sitcom Men at Work brought in 1.8 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery for Thursday night's episode, a +7% boost over the prior week. In key demos, Men at Work drew 1.1 million adults 18-49, up +7% over the previous week, and 652,000 adults 18-34, a remarkable +32% jump over the prior week.

Tuesday night's episode of Who Gets the Last Laugh? also scored growth over the prior week, garnering a Live + 3 audience of 1.3 million viewers (+5%). In the demos, the episode has averaged 723,000 adults 18-49 and 324,000 adults 18-34 in Live + 3.

For the month, The Big Bang Theory on TBS ranked as basic cable's #1 off-net series among total viewers and key adult demos.

Cartoon Network

Across May 2013, Cartoon Network ranked as television's #1 network for Early Primetime (7-9 p.m.) delivery of boys 6-11 & 9-14, and #1 in Total Day delivery of boys 9-14.

Cartoon Network scored as the #1 television network for boys 6-11 & 9-14 on all TV on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday Nights (7-9 p.m.), and the #1 network for boys 9-14 on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday Nights (7-9 p.m.).

The network's original animated series Regular Show ranked as the #1 program on Mondays among boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14, and #1 in its 8 p.m. timeslot among kids 9-14 and all boy demos. Additionally, Adventure Time (7:30 p.m.) and MAD (8:30 p.m.) each ranked #1 in their time periods among all boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14.

Tuesday night's new episodes of Cartoon Network's newest original animated series, Teen Titans GO! (7:30 p.m.) ranked as the #1 program of the day among boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14. New episodes of The Looney Tunes Show (8 p.m.) also ranked #1 in the timeslot among boy demos, with new episodes earning 2% to 14% growth among kids and boys demos 2-11 & 6-11 vs. same time period last year.

Episodes of original series Annoying Orange (Thursday, 7:30 p.m.) ranked #1 in the series' time period among boys 6-11 &9-14.

Saturday Morning episode premieres of Pokemon BW: Adventures in Unova (8:30 a.m.) and Beyblade: Metal Fury (8 a.m.) ranked #1 in their respective time periods among boys 9-14.

truTV

truTV enjoyed solid performances from several original series in May, including three returning hits and one new show. Leading the pack was Hardcore Pawn (Tuesdays at 9 p.m.), averaging 1.9 million viewers in May, with 923,000 adults 18-49 and 485,000 men 18-49. The series ranked as one of cable's Top 5 entertainment programs in the timeslot in all three categories. Hardcore Pawn also displayed strong growth compared to the same timeslot last year among adults 18-49 (+68%), men 18-49 (+47%) and total viewers (+57%).

South Beach Tow (Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m.), which averaged 1.4 million viewers in May, ranked as one of cable's Top 5 entertainment programs in its timeslot among adults 18-49 (690,000) and men 18-34 (193,000).

Operation Repo (Wednesdays at 10 and 10:30 p.m.) took in 1.4 million viewers in May and ranked as one of cable's Top 5 entertainment programs with adults 18-49 (658,000); adults 18-34 (396,000); and men 18-34 (204,000). The show also chalked up double-digit growth compared to the same timeslot last year among adults 18-49 (+33%), men 18-49 (+31%), adults 18-34 (+44%), and men 18-34 (+67%).

truTV's newest series, Top 20 Funniest (Thursdays at 10 p.m.) premiered last week with more than 1.1 million viewers, including 517,000 adults 18-49 and 293,000 men 18-49. The show scored double-digit growth compared to the same timeslot last year, including +43% among total viewers, +26% among adults 18-49 and +27% among men 18-49.
