ABC's "Mistresses" Is Up 17% to Become the First New Scripted Summer Series to Build on Its Debut in Adults 18-49

With The Bachelorette and Mistresses, ABC earned second place on Monday night Total Viewers and Adults 18-49. ABC's Mistresses became the first new scripted summer series this year to grow from its debut among Adults 18-49. A big gainer in TV playback, last week's Mistresses debut saw a 41% increase in its first round of Live + 3 Day Adult 18-49 ratings.

Opposite The Voice from 8-10pm, ABC's The Bachelorette held the #2 position in its 2-hour time period with viewers and young adults. The ABC unscripted series held even week to week among Adults 18-49.

During the 10 o'clock, ABC's Mistresses grew from its week-ago debut by 17% in Adults 18-49. Please Note: From the Live + Same Day ratings to the Live + 3 Day ratings, last week's debut of Mistresses shot up 41% among Adults 18-49, building from a 1.24 rating to a 1.75 rating.

ABC Finishes Second on Monday in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49

"The Bachelorette" Ranks No. 2 in its Time Period in Total Viewers and Young Adults

At 10pm, "Mistresses" Becomes First Scripted Summer Freshman Series To Grow from its Debut in Adults 18-49

Monday Night (8:00-11:00 p.m.)

With "The Bachelorette" and "Mistresses," ABC earned second place on Monday night in Total Viewers (5.2 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.6/5). ABC's "Mistresses" became the first new scripted summer series this year to grow from its debut among Adults 18-49. A big gainer in TV playback, last week's "Mistresses" debut saw a 41% increase in the Live + 3 Day Adult 18-49 ratings.

"The Bachelorette" (8:00-10:00 p.m.)

Opposite "The Voice" from 8:00 - 10:00 p.m., ABC's "The Bachelorette" held the No. 2 position in its 2-hour time period with viewers (5.6 million) and young adults (1.7/5). The ABC unscripted series held even week to week among Adults 18-49.

"Mistresses" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

During the 10 o'clock hour, ABC's "Mistresses" grew from its week-ago debut by 17% in Adults 18-49 (1.4/4 vs. 1.2/3). In addition to becoming the first new scripted summer series to build on its debut in the key adult demo, "Mistresses" grew the most from its premiere telecast among all of the summer's series to date. Please Note: From the Live + Same Day ratings to the Live + 3 Day ratings, last week's debut of "Mistresses" shot up 41% among Adults 18-49, building from a 1.24 rating to a 1.75 rating.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 48% currently, from 44% at the same point in 2012. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
