Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: Another Week, Another "Got Talent" Victory

Here are the highlights of the 11 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night:

NBC (7.433 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) was still the network to beat on Tuesday with a rebroadcast of "Hollywood Game Night" (3.781 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) and a new two-hour "America's Got Talent" (9.260 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.5, #1).

FOX (4.042 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) then took home the silver with its weekly telecast of "So You Think You Can Dance" (4.042 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2).

Next up was ABC (3.549 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) with a new "Extreme Weight Loss" (3.889 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) followed by a repeat of "Body of Proof" (2.870 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #10).

Meanwhile, CBS (6.251 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) offered up second runs of "NCIS" (7.792 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #5), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (5.843 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6) and "Person of Interest" (5.118 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8).

And finally, The CW (1.630 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #5) offered up a new "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (2.300 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6), a repeat "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (2.276 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8) and week two of "Capture" (0.972 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #11). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Line" delivered a 0.7 and a 0.8 rating at 8:00/7:00c and "Capture" a 0.3 rating at 9:00/8:00c.

In late-night metered market ratings (via NBC's press release):

· With a guest appearance by President Barack Obama, "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" delivered its highest rating in metered-market households (a 3.8 rating, 10 share) for any night of the week in nine months, since Wednesday, October 24, 2012 (4.0), the night of Obama's prior appearance on the show, and highest for a Tuesday night in 21 months, since October 25, 2011 (4.1), the night of another appearance by President Obama.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Tonight" averaged a 1.2/6 in adults 18-49, the show's highest result for a Tuesday telecast since December 18, 2012, the night of the "Voice" finale.

· At 12:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" scored its highest Tuesday rating in metered-market households (1.7) since December 18, 2012 (1.8)

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 3.8/10; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 1.8/5 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.8/5.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 1.2/6; "Late Show," 0.3/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.7/6 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.0/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (8/7/12):

NBC (29.58 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 9.3, #1) continued to ride the ratings wave brought on by its "2012 Summer Olympics" (29.58 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 9.3, #1) coverage last night.

CBS (5.46 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T2) then claimed the silver with its mix of "NCIS" (6.72 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (5.34 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) and "Person of Interest" (4.33 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #7).

Next up was FOX (2.38 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T2) with rebroadcasts of "MasterChef" (2.31 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) and a second "MasterChef" (2.44 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3).

Meanwhile, ABC (2.54 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) offered up repeats of "The Middle" (2.62 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T8), "Last Man Standing" (2.15 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #10) and "Wipeout" (2.42 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) as well as a new "NY Med" (2.81 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T8).

And finally, a repeat of "Hart of Dixie" (0.66 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.2, #11) and a new "The L.A. Complex" (0.41 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.1, #12) on The CW (0.53 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) closed out the night. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Dixie" delivered a 0.3 rating while "Complex" posted a 0.2 rating.
