TNT's "Rizzoli & Isles" and "Major Crimes" Rank Among Basic Cable's Top Three Programs for the Week with Total Viewers

With the final month of summer now under way, TNT's Rizzoli & Isles and Major Crimes ranked among basic cable's top three programs for the week with total viewers.

Last week's episode of Rizzoli & Isles, basic cable's #1 series for the summer-to-date, has grown to 7.3 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery. The episode has also brought in 2.4 million adults 25-54 and 2.0 million adults 18-49.

Last week's episode of Major Crimes has so far grown to 6.9 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery (+5% vs. the prior week). Among key demos, the show has drawn 1.9 million adults 25-54 and 1.4 million adults 18-49.

Tuesday's episode of Perception also performed strongly last week, garnering more than 4.6 million in Live + 3 delivery. Among key demos, the episode scored 1.6 million adults 25-54 and 1.3 million adults 18-49.

On the time-shifted viewing front, TNT's July 22 episode of Major Crimes topped out at more than 7.4 million viewers (+8% vs. the prior week) and 2.2 million adults 25-54 (+8%) in Live + 7 delivery. The July 23 episode of Rizzoli & Isles finished with 8.0 million viewers (+4% vs. the prior week) and 2.7 million adults 25-54 (+2%) in Live + 7. The July 23 episode of Perception garnered 5.4 million viewers in Live + 7 (+9% vs. the prior week), including more than 2 million adults 25-54 (+12%). And the July 28 episode of Falling Skies scored a final tally of 5.5 million viewers and 2.8 million adults 25-54 in Live + 7.

Adult Swim

Across August 2013 Week 2, Adult Swim's Total Day Delivery ranked #1 on basic cable among adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 and men 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49. Compared to the same week in 2012, Total Day delivery increased by double-digit growth among all targeted adult demos - with adults 18-24 by 39%, adults 18-34 by 30%, adults 18-49 by 27%, men 18-24 by 57%, men 18-34 by 36% and men 18-49 by 25%.

Compared to the same week in 2012, Primetime delivery for Adult Swim also increased by strong double digits among adults 18-24 by 40%, adults 18-34 by 24%, adults 18-49 by 21%, men 18-24 by 57%, men 18-34 by 26% and men 18-49 by 18%.

Sunday night's new season premiere of Aqua TV Show Show (12 a.m.) and Squidbillies (12:15 a.m.) both ranked #1 in their respective time periods among adults 18-34, 18-24 & 18-49 & men 18-34, 18-24 & 18-49. Both premieres increased by mostly double-digit growth across the board.

Thursday night's new episodes of Adult Swim's original live-action series Childrens Hospital (12 a.m.) and NTSF:SD:SUV:: (12:15 a.m.) ranked #1 in their respective time periods among adults 18-24 & 18-34 and men 18-24 & 18-34. Both premiere episodes increased by double and triple-digit growth - ranging between 10% and 115% - with adults 18-24 & 18-34 and men 18-24 & 18-34.

The Sunday night episode premiere of the animated series, Bob's Burgers (11 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-24 & 18-34 and all targeted men, while the Monday night premiere episode (10 p.m.) increased by double digits among all key adults & men vs. the same time period last year.

Saturday night's premiere episodes of Bleach (12 a.m.) ranked #1 in its timeslot among adults 18-24 & men 18-24/18-34; Naruto (12:30 a.m.) ranked #1 in its timeslot among adults & men 18-24/18-34; One Piece (1 a.m.) ranked #1 in its timeslot among adults 18-34; Soul Eater (1:30 a.m.) ranked #1 with men 18-34 & 18-49; Sword Art Online (2 a.m.) also ranked #1 with all key adults and men. Overall, TOONAMI premieres increased by mostly double and triple-digits across the board vs. the same time period last year.

Adult Swim programming - including Family Guy, American Dad and Robot Chicken - accounted for 20 of the top 50 telecasts on basic cable for the week among adults 18-34, and 27 of the top 50 telecasts with men 18-34, both more than any other network.

Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network scored as the #1 television network among kids 6-11 and boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14 on Monday night (7-9 p.m.), and #1 among boys 2-11 & 6-11 on Tuesday Night, and #1 among boys 6-11 & 9-14 on Wednesday night.

The new episode premiere of Adventure Time (Monday, 7:30 p.m.) was the #1 telecast for the week among boys 6-11 & 9-14, #1 for the day among boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14, and #1 in its time period among kids 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14 and all boys. A new episode of Regular Show (8 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among all kids and boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14, while MAD (8:30 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among all targeted boy demos.

On Wednesday night, a new episode each of The Amazing World of Gumball (7:30 p.m.) and Legends of Chima (8 p.m.) ranked #1 in their time periods among all boy demos, while Annoying Orange (7 p.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among boys 6-11.

Pokémon BW: Adventures in Unova (Saturday, 8:30 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among boys 9-14.

TBS

Thursday night's episode of the hit TBS comedy Sullivan & Son has scored more than 2.4 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery. In key demos, Thursday's episode has drawn 612,000 adults 18-34 and 1.3 million adults 18-49.

TBS's new hidden-camera series Deal With It posted more than 2.0 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery for last week's episode. In the demos, Deal With It scored 1.2 million adults 18-49 and grew +13% among adults 18-34 (622,000), compared to the prior week.

For the week, TBS claimed 18 of basic cable's Top 20 primetime sitcom telecasts among total viewers, along with 19 of the Top 20 sitcom telecasts with adults 18-49 and 17 of the Top 20 with adults 18-34.

truTV

truTV's breakout hit Hardcore Pawn (Tuesday at 9 p.m.) scored 2.1 million total viewers last week (+10% vs. the prior week), ranking as one of ad-supported cable's Top 5 programs in the timeslot. Among key demos, the show averaged 814,000 adults 18-49 (+15% vs. the prior week) and 468,000 men 18-49 (+18%).

truTV's South Beach Tow (Wednesday at 10 p.m.) hitched up 1.8 million viewers, including 931,000 adults 18-49 and 495,000 men 18-49. The show ranked as one of basic cable's Top 5 programs in the timeslot with key adult and male demos.

truTV's hidden-camera hit Impractical Jokers (Thursday at 10 p.m.) averaged 1.5 million viewers, including 911,000 adults 18-49 and 426,000 men 18-49. The show was a Top 5 basic cable program in its timeslot with adults 18-34 and men 18-34, while also scoring a remarkably low median age of only 33.
