ABC's "Kimmel" Scores Summer Highs in Viewers and Adults 18-49

Some early points on Jimmy Kimmel Live's numbers, ahead of the regular press release:

During the week of August 12, 2013, ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live grew over the previous week by 8% in Total Viewers and by 7% in Adults 18-49 to deliver its best performance this summer, excluding the NBA finals weeks in June. In fact, JKL scored its best non-NBA finals week since May in both viewers and young adults - since the weeks of 5/20/13 and 5/6/13, respectively.

JKL catapulted over the year-ago week by 51% in Total Viewers and by 41% among Adults 18-49, marking its 3rd straight week of year-over-year growth.

· Excluding the NBA finals-led broadcasts in June, Wednesday's telecast of JKL (on 8/14/13), which featured guests Oprah Winfrey, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and The Wanted, was the show's strongest telecast on any night in 3 months in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 - since 5/21/13 and 5/16/13, respectively.

ABC Late-Night (Monday - Friday)

With its late-night lineup of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" at 11:35 p.m. and "Nightline" at 12:35 a.m. during the week of August 12, 2013, ABC grew for the 3rd consecutive week in Total Viewers (+7% - 2.095 million vs. 1.955 million) and Adults 18-49 (+7% - 693,000 vs. 648,000) to post its highest numbers in late-night in 8 weeks - since the week of 6/17/13.

ABC posted gains over the year-ago week in late-night (2.060 million and 677,000 on w/o 8/13/12) in both Total Viewers (+2%) and Adults 18-49 (+2%).

"Jimmy Kimmel Live" (M-F 11:35 p.m.)

During the week of August 12, 2013, ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" grew over the previous week by 8% in Total Viewers (2.420 million vs. 2.245 million) and by 7% in Adults 18-49 (805,000 vs. 751,000) to deliver its best performance this summer, excluding the NBA finals weeks in June. In fact, "JKL" scored its best non-NBA finals week since May in both viewers and young adults - since w/o 5/20/13 and 5/6/13, respectively.

"JKL" catapulted over the year-ago week (1.598 million and 571,000 on w/o 8/13/12) by 51% in Total Viewers and by 41% among Adults 18-49, growing year over year on each of the 12 weeks so far this summer in viewers, and on 11 of the 12 weeks among young adults.

· Excluding the NBA finals-led broadcasts in June, Wednesday's telecast of "JKL" (on 8/14/13), which featured guests Oprah Winfrey, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and The Wanted, was the show's strongest telecast on any night in 3 months in both Total Viewers (2.901 million) and Adults 18-49 (981,000) - since 5/21/13 and 5/16/13, respectively.

"Nightline" (M-F 12:35 a.m.)

ABC News' "Nightline" averaged 1.397 million Total Viewers, 604,000 Adults 25-54 and 452,000 Adults 18-49 for the week of August 12, 2013, according to Nielsen Media Research. "Nightline" outperformed CBS' "The Late Late Show" in Total Viewers (+183,000), Adults 25-54 (+74,000) and Adults 18-49 (+49,000).

For the 2nd straight week, "Nightline" posted week-to-week gains (1.369 million, 556,000, and 440,000, respectively, on w/o 8/5/13) across all key target demos: Total Viewers (+2%), Adults 25-54 (+9%) and Adults 18-49 (+3%) to hit 7-week highs - since w/o 6/24/13.
