ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Is Up from Premiere Week in Adults 18-49

Some early points on Jimmy Kimmel Live's weekly numbers, ahead of the regular press release:

During the week of September 30, 2013, ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live grew over premiere week in Total Viewers (+2%) and Adults 18-49 (+10%) to draw its biggest audience since early May and deliver its best young adult number since mid-April, excluding the NBA finals weeks in June - since the weeks of 5/6/13 and 4/15/13, respectively. In fact, while JKL was up week to week by 10% in Adults 18-49, NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (-6%) and CBS' The Late Show with David Letterman (-2%) were both down from their premiere week performances.

For the 2nd week in a row, JKL saw impressive double-digit gains over the year-ago week in Total Viewers (+34%) and Adults 18-49 (+42%).

· For the 2nd straight week, ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live ranked as the #2 broadcast talk show in late-night in Adults 18-49, increasing its lead over CBS' Letterman to 22% (versus +9% during premiere week).

ABC's "Nightline" Posts its Best Performance in Over 3 Months in All Key Measures

ABC Late-Night (Monday - Friday)

With its late-night lineup of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" at 11:35 p.m. and "Nightline" at 12:35 a.m. during the week of September 30, 2013, ABC grew over its premiere week performance in late-night with Total Viewers (+2% - 2.183 million vs. 2.136 million) and Adults 18-49 (+9% - 813,000 vs. 746,000) to hit 15-week highs - since the week of 6/17/13. In fact, ABC was the only broadcaster to see week-to-week gains in either Total Viewers or Adults 18-49, as NBC was down -1%/-7%, respectively, and CBS was down -4%/-2%, respectively.

ABC was up over the year-ago week (763,000 on w/o 10/1/12) in late-night for the 2nd week in a row in Adults 18-49 (+7%).

· ABC ranked as the week's No. 1 broadcaster in late-night in Adults 18-49 (813,000), topping NBC by 3% (790,000) and CBS by 31% (621,000).

"Jimmy Kimmel Live" (M-F 11:35 p.m.)

In the second week of the new season (week of September 30, 2013), ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" grew over premiere week in Total Viewers (+2% - 2.480 million vs. 2.425 million) and Adults 18-49 (+10% - 946,000 vs. 863,000) to draw its biggest audience since early May and deliver its best young adult number since mid-April, excluding the NBA finals weeks in June - since w/o 5/6/13 and 4/15/13, respectively. In fact, while "JKL" was up week to week by 10% in Adults 18-49, NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (-6% - 1.131 million vs. 1.205 million) and CBS' "The Late Show with David Letterman" (-2% - 777,000 vs. 792,000) were both down from their premiere week performances.

For the 2nd week in a row this season, "JKL" saw impressive double-digit gains over the year-ago week (1.848 million and 664,000 on w/o 10/1/12) in Total Viewers (+34%) and Adults 18-49 (+42%).

· For the 2nd straight week, ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" ranked as the No. 2 broadcast talk show in late-night in Adults 18-49, increasing its lead over CBS' "Letterman" to 22% (946,000 vs. 777,000) versus 9% during premiere week.

· On Thursday (10/3/13), ABC's "JKL" was the No. 1 broadcast late-night talk show among Adults 18-49 (1.291 million), topping NBC's "Leno" by 14% (1.130 million) and CBS' "Letterman" by 54% (841,000). In addition, Thursday's telecast was "JKL's" top telecast in late-night on any night (excluding the NBA-finals led broadcasts in June) in over 8 months - since 1/24/13.

"Nightline" (M-F 12:35 a.m.)

ABC News' "Nightline" drew 1.591 million Total Viewers, 696,000 Adults 25-54 and 548,000 Adults 18-49 for the week of September 30, 2013, according to Nielsen Media Research. "Nightline" outperformed CBS' "The Late Late Show" in all key target demos: Total Viewers (+123,000), Adults 25-54 (+74,000) and Adults 18-49 (+71,000). "Nightline" has beaten the CBS program in all key target demos for the last 5 weeks.

"Nightline" claimed the No. 1 telecast in Total Viewers (1.905 million), Adults 25-54 (920,000) and Adults 18-49 (752,000) on Thursday (10/3/13), beating both CBS's "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.705 million, 697,000 and 642,000, respectively) and NBC's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.567 million, 780,000 and 631,000, respectively).

In addition, the Thursday broadcast of "Nightline" stood as the program's strongest telecast since June in all key target demos - since 6/18/13, 6/20/13 and 6/20/13, respectively.

Week 2 of "Nightline" was up from premiere week (1.571 million, 686,000 and 516,000, respectively, on w/o 9/23/13) in Total Viewers (+1%), Adults 25-54 (+1%) and Adults 18-49 (+6%). The ABC late-night program delivered its best numbers in over 3 months- since w/o 6/10/13, w/o 6/17/13 and w/o 6/17/13, respectively. In addition, "Nightline" was the only program to grow week to week in all 3 measures compared to CBS' "The Late Late Show" (-1%/-1%/+1%, respectively) and NBC's "Late Night" (-5%/-11%/-6%, respectively).
