UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - Jan. 14, 2014 - Led by the most-watched "Golden Globe" telecast in 10 years, NBC has finished #2 for the primetime ratings week of Jan. 6-12 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54, total viewers and most other key measures, with the "Golden Globes" ranking #1 among non-sports programs on those networks in adults 18-49 with a 6.5 rating and total viewers with 20.9 million persons. The 6.5 matches the top "Globes" rating since 2004 and the 20.9 million is its biggest average audience since that same year.

According to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research for the week of Jan. 6-12, NBC averaged a 2.0 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49 and 7.2 million viewers overall.

Sunday's "71st Annual Golden Globe Awards" ranked #1 outright among Big 4 primetime telecasts in women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 and was #1 among non-sports programs in adults 18-34, adults 18-49, men 18-34, teens 12-17 and total viewers. Joining the "Globes" among the week's top 25 primetime programs in adults 18-49 were "Law & Order: SVU" (tied for #18), the premiere of "Chicago P.D." (tied for #20) and "Chicago Fire" (tied for #20, rankings exclude sports overruns and pre- and post-game shows).

NBC has finished #1, tied for #1 or #2 among the Big 4 networks in 18-49 for all 16 weeks so far this season. NBC leads the season by 0.4 of a rating point in 18-49 (with a 3.0 rating vs. second-place CBS's 2.6), the biggest margin for any network 16 weeks into the season in 11 years (since NBC led by 0.6 of a point in 2002-03). NBC is the only Big 4 network so far this season to be equaling its 18-49 rating of one year ago, and its 3.0 matches the net's top rating at this point in the season in six years (since a 3.3 in 2007-08).

Through 16 weeks of the season, NBC ranks #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49 and is also #1 in every other key demo - adults, men and women 18-34; men and women 18-49; and adults, men and women 25-54 (including a tie for #1 with CBS in women 25-54).

In total viewers, NBC ranks #2 for the season with an average of 9.6 million viewers, which is its biggest overall audience 16 weeks into the season in seven years (since 2006-07, 9.9 million). Versus one year ago, NBC is up 10% season to date in total viewers (9.6 million vs. 8.7 million).

Primetime averages for the week of Jan. 6-12 in adults 18-49 are: CBS, 3.8/10; NBC, 2.0/6; ABC, 1.4/4; Fox, 1.3/4; and CW, 0.3/1. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 15.2 million; NBC, 7.2 million; ABC, 5.2 million; Fox, 3.7 million; and CW, 0.8 million.

Season-to-date averages are: NBC, 3.0/9; CBS, 2.6/8; Fox, 2.3/7; ABC, 2.2/6; and CW, 0.8/2. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 11.4 million; NBC, 9.6 million; ABC, 7.8 million; Fox, 6.8 million; and CW, 1.9 million.

NBC highlights for the week of Jan. 6-12:

Monday: At 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Blacklist" (1.1/3 in adults 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall) ranked #2 in the hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 versus original drama competition on ABC and CBS, ahead of CBS's "Hostages" finale (1.0/3).

Tuesday: "The Biggest Loser" (1.7/5 in 18-49, 5.5 viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) ranked #1 among the Big 4 networks in the two-hour time period in women 18-34 and finished #2 in women 18-49 and 25-54.

With its first telecast in four weeks and first this season with no "Voice" lead-in, "Chicago Fire" (2.0/6 in 18-49, 6.9 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) tied for #1 in the time period in adults 18-49 and was #1 outright among ABC, CBS and NBC in women 18-49, adults 18-34, men 18-34 and women 18-34. "Chicago Fire" retained 91% of its 2.2 rating for the show's prior telecast four weeks earlier, which benefited from a "Voice" lead-in. This week's "Chicago Fire" built on NBC's 9-10 p.m. rating by 18% (2.0 vs. 1.7) and was the only 10-11 p.m. programming on ABC, CBS or NBC to improve on its lead-in. L+3 Time-Shifting: "Chicago Fire" added 47% or 0.92 of a point to last week's next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating (to a 2.87 in L+3 from a 1.95 in L+SD) and 3.104 million viewers overall (9.976 million vs. 6.872 million).

Wednesday: "Revolution" (1.5/5 in adults 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew 7% versus its prior telecast (1.4/4 on Nov. 20), to match the show's top rating since Oct. 2. In total viewers, it was the top "Revolution" since Sept. 25, with a 10% increase over the prior original telecast (5.4 million). In the time period, "Revolution" tied for #2 in adults 18-49. L+3 Time-Shifting: "Revolution" added 43% or 0.66 of a point to last week's next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating (to a 2.19 in L+3 from a 1.53 in L+SD) and 1.689 million viewers overall (7.618 million vs. 5.929 million).

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2.1/6 in adults 18-49, 8.8 million viewers overall from 9-10:01 p.m. ET) jumped 31% versus its prior first-run episode on Nov. 20 (1.6/4), to achieve the show's highest rating since a special two-hour season premiere on Sept. 25. It was also the highest 18-49 rating for a one-hour "SVU" since a 2.1 on Jan. 9, 2013. In total viewers, it was the top "SVU" since the two-hour Sept. 25 season premiere and highest for a one-hour 'SVU" in more than two years (since Nov. 30, 2011, 9.900 million). L+3 Time-Shifting: "SVU" added 41% or 0.87 of a point to last week's next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating (to a 3.01 in L+3 from a 2.14 in L+SD) and 2.360 million viewers overall (11.209 million vs. 8.849 million).

The debut of "Chicago P.D." (2.0/6 in 18-49, 8.6 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) scored the #2 debut rating among nine new 10 p.m. dramas so far this season on ABC, CBS or NBC in 18-49, behind only "The Blacklist." It's also the #2 debut of a 10 p.m. drama on those nets in total viewers, again behind only "Blacklist." It was NBC's second-best 18-49 rating in the time period in more than three months, since Sept. 25, trailing over that span only a Dec. 4 "Saturday Night Live" special. In total viewers, it was NBC's top result in the hour since Sept. 25. The 2.0 rating in adults 18-49 was within a tenth of a point of the highest "live plus same day" rating for a regularly scheduled Wednesday 10 p.m. drama so far this season on ABC, CBS or NBC. "Chicago P.D." retained 95% of its lead-in from "SVU," which scored its highest rating since Sept. 25. L+3 Time-Shifting: "Chicago P.D." added 38% or 0.76 of a point to last week's next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating (to a 2.76 in L+3 from a 2.00

in L+SD) and 2.469 million viewers overall (11.058 million vs. 8.589 million).

Thursday: Week two of "Community" (1.4/4 in adults 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall from 8-8:30 p.m. ET) grew by 17% versus last season's second episode in 18-49 (1.4 vs. 1.2 on Feb. 14, 2013) and by 30% in total viewers (3.6 million vs. 2.8 million). "Community" was also up week to week by 8% versus the prior week's season premiere in 18-49 (1.2), a significant turnaround versus last year, when the second "Community" declined versus the prior week's premiere by 37% (1.2 vs. 1.9). The 1.4 rating matched the top "Community" score in 18-49 since March 7, 2013 and the 3.6 million in total viewers was the show's high since Feb. 7, 2013, the show's season premiere. "Community" ranked #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults, men and women 18-34 and adults 18-49. L+3 Time Shifting: The prior week's "Community" grew by 32% or 0.42 of a rating point in "live plus three day" results versus these next-day "live plus same day" ratings (to a 1.73 rating in adults 18-49 from a 1.31).

With its first original telecast in seven weeks, "Parks and Recreation" (1.5/4 in 18-49, 3.425 million viewers overall from 8:30-9:01 p.m. ET) hit season highs in 18-49 and total viewers. In total viewers, it was the top "Parks since Feb. 7, 2013. Versus its prior original seven weeks earlier, this 100th episode of"Parks" was up 0.5 of a point or 50% in 18-49 (1.5 from 8:30-9 vs. a 1.0 from 8-9:01 on Nov. 21) and up 22% in total viewers (3.4 million vs. 2.8 million). "Parks and Rec" ranked #2 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults, men and women 18-34, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54. L+7 Time-Shifting: The prior original episode of "Parks and Recreation" on Nov. 21 added 61% or 0.62 of a point to its next-day "live plus same day" 18-49 rating (to a 1.63 in L+3 from a 1.01 in L+SD).

"Sean Saves the World" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall from 9:01-9:30 p.m. ET) grew week to week by 0.2 of a point or 25% in 18-49, matching its top rating since Nov. 7. In total viewers, the gain was 12% (3.1 million vs. 2.8 million).

"The Michael J. Fox Show" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers from 9:30-10 p.m. ET) was up week to week by 0.2 of a point or 25%, in 18-49, hitting its top rating since Nov. 7. In total viewers, "The Michael J. Fox Show" grew versus the prior week by 24% (3.1 million vs. 2.5 million) to its biggest overall audience since Nov. 7. L+3 Time-Shifting: The prior week's "Michael J. Fox Show" grew by 42% or 0.32 of a rating point going from its L+SD rating to L+3 (0.76 to 1.08).

"Parenthood" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) matched its highest 18-49 rating since Oct. 3, during the second week of the season, and hit its total-viewer high since the show's season premiere on Sept. 26. "Parenthood" won the hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-34 and women 18-34 and ranked #2 in most other key categories. L+3 Time-Shifting: The previous week's "Parenthood" grew by 69% or 0.87 of a rating point going from its L+SD rating to L+3 (1.26 to 2.13).

Friday: "Grimm" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 5.3 million viewers overall from 9-10:01 p.m. ET) grew 63% versus its lead-in in adults 18-49 and was up 50% in total viewers. L+7 Time-Shifting: The Dec. 13 "Grimm" telecast grew by +118% going from these next-day "live plus same day" results to "live plus seven day" figures (to a 2.57 from a 1.18).

Saturday: NBC Sports' coverage of the "U.S. Figure Skating Championships" averaged a 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 4.2 million viewers overall from 8-11 p.m. ET, an increase versus one year ago of 0.2 of a rating point or 40% in adults 18-49 (to a 0.7 from a 0.5 on Jan. 26, 2013) and 26% in total viewers (4.2 million vs. 3.3 million). The skating coverage finished #2 for the night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in total viewers. From its first half-hour to its sixth, the "U.S. Figure Skating Championships" grew 0.4 of a point or 67% in 18-49 rating (to a 1.0 from a 0.6) and 57% or 1.9 million person in total viewers (5.3 million vs. 3.4 million).

Sunday: From 7-8 p.m. ET, the "Golden Globes Red Carpet Special 2014" (1.6/4 in 18-49, 6.7 million viewers overall) grew versus one year ago by 23% in 18-49 rating (to a 1.6 from a 1.3) and by 9% in total viewers (6.7 million vs. 6.1 million). It's the top results for the "Red Carpet Special" in five years (since Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, 1.8 rating in 18-49, 7.8 million viewers overall).

"The 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards" (6.5/16 in 18-49, 20.9 million viewers overall from 8-11:01 p.m. ET and live in all time zones) grew year to year by 2% in 18-49 rating (to a 6.5 from a 6.4) and 6% in total viewers (20.9 million vs. 19.7 million), making this the top-rated "Golden Globes" in 18-49 in seven years (since Monday, January 15, 2007, 6.5/15) and matching a 10-year high (since a 9.9/23 on Jan. 25, 2004). In total viewers, it's the event's best in 10 years (since 26.8 million in 2004). It's the second year in a row "The Golden Globes" have grown year to year. Versus two years ago, the 2014 telecast is up 30% in 18-49 (6.5 vs. 5.0 on Jan. 15, 2012) and up 24% in total viewers (20.9 million vs. 16.9 million).

"The 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards" attracted NBC's top adult 18-49 and total-viewer results in the Sunday 8-11 p.m. ET time period, excluding sports, in 10 years (since the 2004 "Globes" telecast). Versus NBC's non-sports average in this time period last season, the "Golden Globe Awards" telecast was up 306% in both 18-49 rating (6.5 vs. 1.6, "live plus same day") and total viewers (20.9 million vs. 5.1 million).

Sunday's "Golden Globes" coverage is the season's #1 awards program to date in 18-49 and total viewers ahead of such prior telecasts as CBS's "Emmy Awards," ABC's "CMA Awards " and "American Music Awards" and CBS's "People's Choice Awards." It's the top-scoring awards show since ABC's Feb. 24, 2013 telecast of "The Academy Awards." For a fifth consecutive year, the "Golden Globes" were televised live to all time zones, and some western markets also carried an encore telecast immediately following the live coverage.

NBC Research estimates a total of 44.2 million people watched all or some of the 8-11:01 p.m. ET "Golden Globes" coverage, up from the year-ago 38.6 million and highest for the telecast in 10 years (50.1 million in 2004).
