Jimmy Delivers Another Night of Strong "Tonight" Sampling: Its Top Wednesday in Six Years in Metered-Market Households
NBC spins the late-night numbers for Wednesday, February 19.

Wednesday Late-Night Metered-Market Results:

· "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" continues to attract strong sampling at the show's special midnight start time following late local news and NBC's coverage of the Sochi Winter Olympics.

· Tuesday's "Tonight" averaged a 5.2 rating, 15 share in household results from the 56 local markets metered by Nielsen Media Research, making it "Tonight's" biggest Wednesday in metered-market households in six years (since Jan. 2, 2008, 5.3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, the Feb. 19 "Tonight" averaged a 2.2/12, the show's highest LPM result for a Wednesday in nearly 10 years (since May 19, 2004, 2.3).

· Wednesday's 5.2 in metered-market households is up 79% versus the show's 2.9 season-to-date average (L+SD). Note that "Tonight" has been delivering one of its strongest seasons in years and was up 7% season to date in metered-market households through Feb. 9 (2.9 vs. 2.7).

· Wednesday's "Tonight" finished within a tenth of a rating point of the prior night's results both in metered-market households (5.2 vs. 5.3) and in 18-49 rating in the Local People Meters (2.2 vs. 2.3).

· Despite its later start time, "Tonight" topped the combined rating of CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" (2.2/6) and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (1.6/4) by 37% (5.2 vs. a combined 3.8).

· Wednesday's "Tonight Show" featured Bradley Cooper and musical guest Tim McGraw, while Thursday's telecast is scheduled to include First Lady Michelle Obama, Will Ferrell and musical guest Arcade Fire.

Detailed Results in Late-Night Metered Markets Wednesday night:

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 5.2 rating, 15 share from midnight-1 a.m. ET; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.2/6, and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.6/4.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "Tonight," 2.2/12 at midnight; "Late Show," 0.6/3, and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" averaged a 1.0/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

Wednesday Late-Night "Fast Official" Results:

· "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" continues to attract strong sampling at the show's special midnight start time following late local news and NBC's coverage of the Sochi Winter Olympics, with last night's telecast virtually matching the Tuesday edition in total viewers and generating a night-to-night gain in adults 18-49.

· Wednesday's "Tonight" averaged a 2.4 rating in adults 18-49 and 7.274 million viewers overall, according to fast-official "live plus same day" ratings from Nielsen Media Research. The 2.4 rating is up 4% versus the 2.3 for the prior night and the 7.274 million viewers represents a retention of 99% of Tuesday's 7.366 million.

· It's the best Wednesday 18-49 rating for "Tonight" in nine years (since Dec. 8, 2004, 2.5) and largest total-viewer audience for a Wednesday "Tonight" in 10 years (since Feb. 2, 2004, 7.699 million).

· Wednesday's telecast is up 81% versus "Tonight's" season-to-date average in total viewers (7.274 million vs. 4.011 million, L+SD through Feb. 9). Note that "Tonight" has been delivering one of its strongest seasons in years and was up 15% season to date in total viewers through Feb. 9 (4.011 million vs. 3.473 million, "live plus same day").

· Despite its later start time, the Feb. 19 "Tonight Show" outperformed the combined results in total viewers of CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" (2.746 million) and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (1.922) by 56% (7.274 million vs. a combined 4.668 million). In adults 18-49, "Tonight's" 2.4 rating more than doubled the combined results of "Late Show" (0.6) and "Kimmel" (0.5).

· Wednesday's "Tonight Show" featured Bradley Cooper and musical guest Tim McGraw, while Thursday's telecast is scheduled to include First Lady Michelle Obama, Will Ferrell and musical guest Arcade Fire.
