Sunday's Broadcast Ratings: Preliminaries Have Over 40 Million Viewers Tuning Into Oscars

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (3/2/14):

ABC (35.155 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 10.2, #1) was of course the network to beat on Sunday with its coverage "The Oscars Red Carpet Live, Part 1" (21.386 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 5.3, #4), "The Oscars Red Carpet Live, Part 2" (25.709 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 6.8, #3), "The Oscars Red Carpet Live, Part 3" (33.301 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 9.1, #2) and "The 86th Annual Academy Awards" (40.168 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 12.1, #1).

A year ago, "The 85th Annual Academy Awards" (36.967 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 12.1, #1) posted equal demo numbers.

CBS (5.405 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T2) then topped the leftovers with its mix of "60 Minutes" (0.000 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.4, #6), "The Amazing Race 23" (0.000 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.5, #5), "The Mentalist" (0.000 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.5, #15) and "The Good Wife" (0.000 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.4, #16).

Next up was NBC (3.735 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T2) with rebroadcasts of "Dateline NBC" (4.159 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #12) and "The Voice" (3.310 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #11).

And finally, repeats of "Bob's Burgers" (1.960 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T13), "American Dad" (1.747 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T13), "The Simpsons" (2.608 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8), another "Bob's Burgers" (2.343 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8), "Family Guy" (2.698 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.3, #7) and another "American Dad" (2.407 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8) closed out the night over on FOX (2.294 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T2).
