ABC Earns Second on Tuesday in Adults 18-49, Tripling Fox's Original Lineup

ABC's Celebrity Wife Swap Finale Spikes to the Series' Top Rating since March 2013

ABC Tuesday Prime (8-11pm - 3.9 million and 1.2/4 in AD18-49): With the unscripted combo of Extreme Weight Loss and Celebrity Wife Swap, ABC took second place on Tuesday in Adults 18-49 to NBC with America's Got Talent, tripling Fox's night of originals (+200% - 1.2/4 vs. 0.4/1).

Extreme Weight Loss (8-10pm - 3.9 million and 1.1/4 in AD18-49): From 8-10pm, ABC's Extreme Weight Loss topped its year-ago telecast for the 2nd week in a row among Adults 18-49 (+10% - 1.1/4 vs. 1.0/3 on 6/4/13).

Celebrity Wife Swap (10-11pm - 4.0 million and 1.4/5 in AD18-49): Building on its lead-in during the 10pm hour, ABC's Celebrity Wife Swap season finale was up for its 2nd straight telecast to new season highs in both Total Viewers (+3%) and Adults 18-49 (+17%). And the ABC unscripted series spiked over last season's finale (2.9 million and 1.1/4 on 7/28/13) by 38% in Total Viewers and by 27% in Adults 18-49. In fact, Celebrity Wife Swap earned its biggest overall audience since last June and its highest Adult 18-49 number since mid-March 2013 - since 6/23/13 and 3/12/13, respectively. The show finished in a virtual tie for #1 in the hour with NBC's America's Got Talent-fueled Night Shift in Adults 18-49 (1.4/5 vs. 1.5/5).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 49% currently, from 47% at the same point in 2013. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year- to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
