DISCOVERY CHANNEL HEATS UP SUMMER CABLE AS THE #1 CABLE NETWORK FOR MEN IN AUGUST

The solid performances of hit Discovery Channel series coupled with a ratings record breaking Shark Week made Discovery Channel the #1 cable network in both Men 25-54 and Men 18-49* during August 2014. Discovery also had the top three series for Men in August*.

DEADLIEST CATCH was Discovery's most watched regular series in August with an average of 2.6 million viewers for the month. Additionally, FAST N' LOUD averaged 2.5 million viewers, and NAKED AND AFRAID averaged 2.3 million viewers in August. Additionally, among Men 25-54 delivery, Discovery had the top three series on cable in August with Fast N' Loud (#1), Street Outlaws (#2) and Deadliest Catch (#3).

Shark Week reigned over August, delivering the highest-rated Shark Week ever in its 27-year history across several key demos including Persons and Women 25-54, and Women 18-49 ratings, no exclusions from Sunday, August 10 to Saturday, August 16. The week drew in over 42 million viewers (P2+, L+SD, cume). Additionally, Shark Week 2014 was the highest rated week ever in Discovery's history among Women 18-49, surpassing the record held since 2000.
