Discovery Channel Moves Up the Cable Ranker and Into the Top Five for Adults and Men During 3Q14

DISCOVERY CHANNEL MOVES UP THE CABLE RANKER AND INTO THE TOP FIVE FOR ADULTS AND MEN DURING 3Q14

Discovery Grabs Top Two Unscripted Cable Series During 3Q14 Cable with DEADLIEST CATCH and FAST N' LOUD

Popular Discovery Channel series FAST N'LOUD, DEADLIEST CATCH, NAKED AND AFRAID and STREET OUTLAWS, strong beginnings of freshman series HIGHWAY TO SELL and FAT N' FURIOUS, and the ratings success of SHARK WEEK 2014, pushed Discovery Channel up the cable ranker during 3Q14 vs. 3Q13, landing inside the Top Five in Adults 18-49, Adults 25-54 and Men 25-54. Discovery was also a Top 10 cable network for Men every week night across the entire quarter.

DEADLIEST CATCH and FAST N' LOUD were the top two unscripted series on cable during 3Q14 with 2.7 million total viewers P2+ and 2.33 million viewers, respectively. Rounding out the top four for Discovery were NAKED AND AFRAID with 2.14 million total viewers P2+ and STREET OUTLAWS with 2.07 million total viewers P2+ for the quarter.

During 3Q14, Discovery earned its highest-rated SHARK WEEK ever in its 27-year history across several key demos including Persons and Women 25-54, and Women 18-49 ratings, no exclusions from August 10-16. The week drew in over 42 million viewers (P2+ cume). Additionally, SHARK WEEK 2014 was the highest rated week ever in Discovery's history among Women 18-49, surpassing the record held since 2000.
