ABC Builds Year Over Year on Sunday for the 4th Straight Week This Season

ABC's Sunday is Up Year to Year for 4th Straight Week - Non-Sports Leader in AD18-49

Fast Affiliate Live + Same Day Results:

ABC Sunday Prime (7-11pm - 5.8 million and 1.6/4 in AD18-49): Facing NBC's highly rated Sunday Night Football (Denver-San Francisco) and Fox with another big primetime NFL overrun, ABC beat out its non-sports competition on CBS Sunday night by 14% in Adults 18-49 (1.6/4 vs. 1.4/4). ABC's Once Upon a Time continued to rank as Sunday's top broadcast drama in Adults 18-49. The Network was up from the same Sunday last year for the 4th time in as many weeks this season in both Total Viewers (+4% - 5.8 million vs. 5.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (+14% - 1.6/4 vs. 1.4/4).

America's Funniest Home Videos (7-8pm - 5.3 million and 1.1/3 in AD18-49): During the 7pm hour opposite Fox's huge NFL overrun, ABC's America's Funniest Home Videos jumped from its first to second half-hour by 38% in Total Viewers and by 44% in Adults 18-49. The show held even with its year-ago telecast (1.1/3 on 10/20/13) in Adults 18-49 and paced within 1-tenth week to week (1.1/3 vs. 1.2/4).

Once Upon a Time (8-9pm - 7.9 million and 2.7/7 in AD18-49): More than doubling its Adult 18-49 lead-in at 8pm (+145%), ABC's Once Upon a Time beat CBS' Madam Secretary in the hour by 93% (2.7/7 vs. 1.4/4). For the 4th consecutive week, Once Upon a Time built from its year-ago telecast in Total Viewers (+11% - 7.9 million vs. 7.1 million) and Adults 18-49 (+29% - 2.7/7 vs. 2.1/5). The ABC drama was up from its week-ago Fast Affiliate numbers (+3%/+4% - 7.7 million and 2.6/7), which revised upward, and held even with its National numbers (7.9 million and 2.7/7).

Resurrection (9-10pm - 5.0 million and 1.4/3 in AD18-49): From 9-10pm, ABC's Resurrection held steady week to week with its Fast Affiliate rating (which revised up 1-tenth in the Nationals) and tied CBS' competing drama The Good Wife in Adults 18-49 (1.4/4).

Revenge (10-11pm - 5.0 million and 1.3/4 in AD18-49): During the 10 o'clock hour, ABC's Revenge grew week to week in Total Viewers (+6% - 5.0 million vs. 4.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (+8% - 1.3/4 vs. 1.2/3). Revenge continued to deliver strong time period improvement for ABC, boosting its hour year to year by 43% in Total Viewers (5.0 million vs. 3.5 million) and by 44% in Adults 18-49 (1.3/4 vs. 0.9/2). On average this season, Revenge spikes 69% via TV Playback among Adults 18-49 from L+SD to L+7 (growing from a 1.3 rating to a 2.2 rating).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 49% currently, from 48% at the same point in 2013. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
