ABC's Once Upon a Time is Up Year to Year as Sunday's #1 Scripted Broadcast in AD18-49

ABC Sunday Prime (7-11pm - 4.5 million and 1.3/4 in AD18-49): On a night filled with professional sports competition, including NBC's Sunday Night Football (Packers-Saints), Fox's World Series Game 5 and another big primetime NFL overrun on CBS (Colts-Steelers), ABC's Once Upon a Time ranked as Sunday's #1 scripted broadcast in Adults 18-49 (2.3/6), pacing well ahead of CBS' NFL overrun-fueled series on the night: Madam Secretary (1.5/4) and The Good Wife (1.4/4). Once Upon a Time was up from its year-ago telecast for the 5th consecutive week in Adults 18-49 (+5% vs. 2.2/6 on 10/27/13).

Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion (7-8pm - 2.5 million and 0.6/2 in AD18-49): During the 7pm hour opposite the start of the World Series and a highly rated NFL overrun, ABC's special encore airing of Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion - a television movie - drew an average audience of 2.5 million viewers. Prior to last night's ABC broadcast, the animated movie had already reached an audience of nearly 16 million unduplicated Total Viewers in the U.S. on Disney Channel and Disney XD since its early October debut (10/3/14).

Once Upon a Time (8-9pm - 6.6 million and 2.3/6 in AD18-49): Nearly quadrupling its Adult 18-49 lead-in at 8pm (+283%), ABC's Once Upon a Time outdelivered its regular 8pm CBS drama competition, beating Madam Secretary (which shifted to the 9pm hour due to the NFL overrun) by 53% (2.3/6 vs. 1.5/4).

Resurrection (9-10pm - 4.4 million and 1.2/3 in AD18-49): ABC's Resurrection outdelivered its regular 9pm CBS drama competition, topping The Good Wife (which shifted into the 10pm hour) among Adults 18-34 and key Women (W18-34/W18-49).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 49% currently, from 48% at the same point in 2013. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
