LATEST HALLMARK CHANNEL ORIGINAL FILM, "THE GOOD WITCH'S WONDER," AVERAGES 2.5 MILLION VIEWERS AND MARKS THE NETWORK'S MOST WATCHED FILM OF 2014 TO DATE
Results Reinforce Popularity of The Good Witch Brand as Network Gears up to Debut Franchise as an Original Series in Early 2015
The world premiere of the Hallmark Channel's original movie, The Good Witch's Wonder, spellbound audiences Saturday night averaging 2.5 million total viewers and becoming the network's most watched film of 2014 to-date. The 7th installment in Hallmark Channel's longest running original movie franchise, the film debuted on October 25, 2014 at 9p ET/PT, as the network gears up to transition The Good Witch into a weekly original series. The series will launch in February 2015, with Catherine Bell reprising her signature role as Cassie Nightingale and Bailee Madison (Just Got With it; Trophy Wife; and Northpole ) and James Denton (Desperate Housewives) joining the cast in supporting roles.
"The Good Witch films have long been a popular mainstay on Hallmark Channel and Saturday's numbers make it clear that our viewers can't get enough of Cassie Nightingale," said Michelle Vicary, executive vice president of Crown Media Family Networks. "These results bode incredibly well for the launch of The Good Witch as the network's next primetime original series, which will allow fans to tune in week after week."
In The Good Witch's Wonder, Cassie Nightingale (Catherine Bell) finds herself with only days to plan her stepson Brandon's (Matthew Knight) wedding to Tara (Ashley Leggat) when the happy couple unexpectedly pushes up the date for their big day. Meanwhile, Martha (Catherine Disher), the newly elected mayor of Middleton has roped Cassie into chairing the silent auction to raise much-needed funds for her pet project, the Middleton Botanical Gardens. Audrey (Rachel Wilson), a new arrival in town, pops in to Cassie's store Bell, Book & Candle and the two instantly bond. Needing help in the store, Cassie immediately hires Audrey as her new store associate and she even pitches in and helps Cassie organize the auction. But, Audrey is hiding a secret past and suspicions start to swirl around her when the donated auction items are missing. With the use of her "special" powers - as well as some teamwork by the Mayor and Jake (Chris Potter), her husband and local Chief of Police - Cassie hopes to conjure up the truth before it's too late.
