Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: Another Week, Another "Empire" Victory

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (2/11/15):

FOX (11.157 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.7, #1) was the network to beat on Wednesday with its duo of "American Idol" (10.397 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.7, #3) and "Empire" (11.917 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.7, #1).

ABC (6.988 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.1, #2) then claimed the silver with its mix of "The Middle" (7.909 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.1, #6), "The Goldbergs" (6.948 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 2.3, #4), "Modern Family" (9.798 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 3.3, #2), "Black-ish" (6.932 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 2.2, #5) and "Nashville" (5.171 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T9).

Next up was CBS (8.874 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3) and its trio of "The Mentalist" (9.046 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #8), "Criminal Minds" (9.999 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.0, #7) and "Stalker" (7.576 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T9).

Meanwhile, NBC (6.201 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4) served up originals from "The Mysteries of Laura" (5.952 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.1, #13), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (6.169 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T9) and "Chicago PD" (6.482 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T9).

And finally, new episodes of "Arrow" (2.592 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.0, #14) and "The 100" (1.589 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.6, #15) closed out the evening on The CW (2.091 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #5). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former delivered a 0.8 rating while the latter posted a 0.4 rating.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.0/5; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.0/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 10 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (2/12/14):

NBC (20.768 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.6, #1) continued its win streak with its coverage of the "2014 Olympic Winter Games" (20.768 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.6, #1).

FOX (11.425 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.4, #2) then took home the silver with another two-hour "American Idol" (11.425 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.4, #2).

Next up was ABC (3.597 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and its mix of "The Middle" (4.956 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4), "Suburgatory" (3.685 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #6), "Modern Family" (4.803 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3), a new "Super Fun Night" (3.498 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.3, #5) and "Nashville" (2.320 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #9).
