HBO SERIES HIT RECORD HIGHS, WHILE SUMMER SHOWS OFF TO STRONG START

NEW YORK, NY April 7, 2015 - HBO programming continues trending up as audiences for some of HBO's biggest shows hit record numbers in the beginning of 2015 including: GAME OF THRONES, SILICON VALLEY, LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER and VICE. New summer lineup of TRUE DETECTIVE, BALLERS and THE BRINK also deliver strong debuts, with freshman series BALLERS being HBO's most watched premiere episode of a half-hour series since 2009.

SPRING 2015 (viewership includes HBO linear, DVR, HBO On Demand and HBO GO/NOW)

Viewing of GAME OF THRONES season 5 is set to surpass 20 million viewers (currently 19.8 million), eclipsing season 4's record breaking performance of 19.1 million viewers and cementing its status as HBO's most watched series ever.

SILICON VALLEY delivered a new high of over 6 million viewers in its second season, up from 5.8 million for season 1.

VEEP held strong in season 4 with 4.1 million viewers, the second consecutive season it has surpassed the 4 million viewer mark (last season was 4.5 million viewers).

LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER has delivered significant growth in its 2nd season, averaging a record 4.6 million viewers per episode, up 14% from Season 1's 4 million viewers.

Still going strong in its 13th season, episodes of REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER are averaging 4 million viewers, up from last year's 3.9 million.

Recently wrapping up its 3rd season on HBO, episodes of VICE are averaging 3 million viewers, its most watched season yet.

HBO FILMS' BESSIE, starring Queen Latifah, has attracted over 7 million viewers to-date.

SUMMER 2015

The debut episode of the second season of TRUE DETECTIVE has already amassed 11.8 million viewers, nearly 1.5 million more than the first episode of season 1 after a similar period of time. Season 1 of TRUE DETECTIVE was the most watched debut season of any series in HBO's history, with episodes going on to average 11.9 million viewers.

The first episode of BALLERS has gathered 8.3 million viewers across HBO's branded platforms, making it HBO's most watched first episode of a half-hour series since 2009 (HUNG). The episode has also tallied a staggering 5.6 million views on Dwayne Johnson's Facebook page to-date.

The debut episode of THE BRINK has tallied 6.2 million viewers to-date which, like BALLERS, joins the ranks of HBO's most watched half-hours over the last few years. On Facebook, the premiere episode of THE BRINK has delivered nearly 1 million views.
