Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX, NBC Share Demo Crown in Tight Race

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (9/9/15):

NBC (5.994 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T1) was the most-watched network on Wednesday with new episodes of "America's Got Talent" (9.341 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) and "The Carmichael Show" (4.661 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T6) followed by the season finales of "The Carmichael Show" (3.887 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #8) and "Last Comic Standing" (4.367 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T4).

FOX (4.237 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T1) then shared in the top demo honors with a new "MasterChef" (4.686 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #3) and the season finale of "Home Free" (3.787 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T4).

Next up was CBS (5.202 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) with fresh installments of "Big Brother 17" (6.506 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1), "Extant" (4.619 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9) and the season finale of "Extant" (4.481 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #12).

Meanwhile, ABC (2.898 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) served up its all-repeat lineup of "Shark Tank" (3.631 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9), "Modern Family" (3.424 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T6), "Black-ish" (2.751 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9) and "Nashville" (1.976 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.5, #14).

And finally, originals from "America's Next Top Model" (1.407 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.6, #13) and "A Wicked Offer" (0.717 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #15) on The CW (1.062 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former delivered a 1.0 rating while the latter posted a 0.3 rating.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.2/6; "Late Show," 0.8/4; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.4/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.1/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 22 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (9/10/14):

FOX (4.247 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) slipped into the top spot on Wednesday with the return of "Hell's Kitchen" (4.209 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T4) followed by "FOX News Special" (3.857 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 1.3, #8), "Hell's Kitchen" (4.033 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T4) and another "Hell's Kitchen" (4.926 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T4).

NBC (7.986 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) then had to settle for second place with a recap of "America's Got Talent" (6.848 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T9) alongside its "NBC News Special" (10.671 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.0, #2), "America's Got Talent" (10.452 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #3), "Taxi Brooklyn" (4.680 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #17) and "America's Got Talent/Taxi Brooklyn" (8.415 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #7).
