Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS, NBC Repeats Share Demo Crown

Here are the highlights of the 17 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (12/23/15):

CBS (5.764 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T1) was the most-watched network on a repeat Wednesday with its mix of "I Love Lucy Christmas Special" (7.399 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2), "Hawaii Five-0" (4.893 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T10) and "Criminal Minds" (5.001 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5).

NBC (4.257 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T1) then shared in the demo honors with encores of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" (4.919 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1), "How Murray Saved Christmas" (3.562 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5), "Adele Live in New York City" (5.032 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2) and "Michael Bublé's Christmas in Hollywood" (3.499 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T12).

Next up was ABC (3.328 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) with repeats of "The Middle" (4.129 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5), "The Goldbergs" (3.419 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5), "Modern Family" (3.836 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4), "Black-ish" (3.269 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #9), "Fresh Off the Boat" (2.735 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T10) and another "Black-ish" (2.577 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T12).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.821 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) offered up second runs of "Empire" (1.854 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #14) and "Rosewood" (1.787 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.4, #15).

And finally, repeats of "Arrow" (1.161 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T16) and "Supernatural" (0.874 million viewers, #17; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T16) on The CW (1.017 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the night.

In late-night metered market ratings (via NBC's press release):

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.5/6 with an encore telecast; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 1.8/4 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.8/4 with an encore.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.8/4 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.4/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.9/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (12/24/14):

NBC (4.986 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1) was the top draw on Wednesday with its Christmas Eve telecast of "It's a Wonderful Life" (4.986 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1).

The silver then went to ABC (2.930 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #2) and its repeat lineup of "The Middle" (3.274 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T7), "The Goldbergs" (2.869 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T7), "Modern Family" (2.997 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3), "Black-ish" (2.878 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #2), another "Black-ish" (2.804 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3) and yet another "Black-ish" (2.758 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3).

CBS (3.406 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T3) then served up its own encore lineup of "I Love Lucy Christmas Special" (3.584 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3), "Madam Secretary" (3.098 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) and "Scorpion" (3.536 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9).

Next up was FOX (1.292 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T3) with second runs of "Bob's Burgers" (1.510 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9), another "Bob's Burgers" (1.271 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11), "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (1.154 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) and another "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (1.234 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11).

And finally, "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol" (0.814 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #15) and "Merry Madagascar" (0.779 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.2, #16) on The CW (0.805 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former delivered a 0.2 rating while the latter posted a 0.1 rating.
