Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Tops Coverage of the State of the Union Address

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/12/16):

NBC (5.030 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1) was the demo champ on Tuesday with a new "Hollywood Game Night" (4.620 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4) followed by its "NBC News Special" (5.235 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3).

CBS (7.332 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) then claimed the silver with repeats of "NCIS" (10.747 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T1) and "Mike & Molly" (3.516 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T13) bookending a "CBS News Special" (6.328 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5).

Next up was FOX (2.615 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) with originals from "New Girl" (3.320 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T1), "Grandfathered" (2.706 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5) and "FOX News Special" (2.661 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8).

Meanwhile, ABC (3.500 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) offered up second runs of "Fresh Off the Boat" (3.701 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8) and "The Muppets" (2.393 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T10) alongside "ABC News Special" (4.142 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5) and a repeat "The Goldbergs" (2.476 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T10).

And finally, The CW (1.435 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #5) closed out the night with its special "MADtv 20th Anniversary Reunion" (1.646 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T10) and the return of "iZombie" (1.225 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T13).

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.0/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (1/13/15):

CBS (15.257 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1) was the top draw on Tuesday thanks to originals from "NCIS" (19.615 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.8, #1), "NCIS: New Orleans" (16.124 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.2, #2) and "Person of Interest" (10.033 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.6, #5).

ABC (5.683 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T2) then claimed the silver with a special "Shark Tank" (7.346 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #3) followed by new episodes of "Marvel's Agent Carter" (5.053 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T6) and "Forever" (4.648 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #12).

Next up was FOX (3.801 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T2) with fresh installments of "MasterChef Junior" (4.922 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.7, #4), "New Girl" (2.917 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.4, #10) and "The Mindy Project" (2.441 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.1, #11).

Meanwhile, NBC (4.197 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4) served up the return of "Parks & Recreation" (3.761 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T6) followed by a second "Parks & Recreation" (3.296 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T6), "Marry Me" (2.196 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #14), "About a Boy" (2.758 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.9, #13) and "Chicago Fire" (6.587 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T6).

And finally, repeats of "The Flash" (1.614 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.4, #15) and "Arrow" (1.149 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.3, #16) on The CW (1.381 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "The Flash" posted a 0.2 rating while "Arrow" delivered a 0.2 rating.
