TVD holds steady on its new night
Returning from winter hiatus on its new night, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES rose +5% in total viewers (1.235M) from its last original episode (12/10/15) and held even in A18-49 (0.5/2).
TVD delivered The CW's best A18-49 rating in the Friday 8-9pm time period in nearly a year (2/16/15) and the best rating in W18-34 (0.5/2) since 3/16/15.
TVD improved the time period average rating by +14% in total viewers, by +67% in A18-49 (0.5/2) and doubled the time period average in A18-34 (0.4/2).
THE ORIGINALS also returned from winter break last night on a new night and held even from its last original episode in A18-49 (0.4/1) and was basically flat in total viewers (930,000).
For the night, The CW was up +15% over this same week last year in total viewers (1.08M), +33% in A18-49 (0.3/2), and steady in A18-34 (0.3/2).
In their former Thursday time slots, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and THE ORIGINALS are among the most heavily time shifted shows on broadcast television; season to date, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is averaging a +74% gain in total viewers in Live + 7 Day delayed viewing over its Live + Same Day totals, a +89% increase in A18-34, a +102% jump in W18-34, and a +96% increase in A18-49. THE ORIGINALS averages gains of +75% in total viewers, +87% in A18-34, +98% in W18-34, and +96% in A18-49.
