[via press release from ABC]

ABC's American Crime Finale Grows to a 5-Week High in Viewers and a 7-Week High in AD18-49

Info on ABC's Wednesday, ahead of the regular press release.

American Crime (10-11pm - 3.7 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49): In the 10 o'clock hour, ABC's second season finale of American Crime grew over the prior week by 16% in Total Viewers (3.7 million vs. 3.2 million) and 13% in Adults 18-49 (0.9/3 vs. 0.8/3), marking its most-watched telecast in 5 weeks and matching a 7-week high among young adults - since 2/3/16 and 1/20/16, respectively. In the most recent round of Live + 7 Day data (w/o 2/15/16) released on Monday, American Crime nearly doubled (+88%) its L+SD Adult 18-49 rating after 7 days of TV playback to match its largest-ever L+7 playback lift.

Quick Take for Wednesday, March 9, 2016 (Fast Affiliate Live + Same Day Ratings)

ABC's "American Crime" Finale Matches a 7-Week High Among Adults 18-49

Wednesday (03/09/16) - ABC Total Viewer and Adult 18-49 Projections:

"American Crime": L3 = 5.7 million/1.3 rating and L7 = 6.4 million/1.5 rating

Live + Same Day Results:

"American Crime" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 3.7 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):

Despite the lower-rated repeat lead-in, ABC's second season finale of "American Crime" grew over the prior week by 16% in Total Viewers (3.7 million vs. 3.2 million) and 13% in Adults 18-49 (0.9/3 vs. 0.8/3), marking its most watched telecast in 5 weeks and matching a 7-week high among young adults - since 2/3/16 and 1/20/16, respectively.

· TV Playback Gains: On average this season, "American Crime" jumps +56% among Adults 18-49 from Live + SD to Live + 3 (from a 1.0 rating to a 1.5 rating) and +70% from L+SD to L+7 (from a 1.0 to a 1.7).

Projections Rationale:

Lifts vs. L+SD are based on 2015-16 season averages for originals (excluding the premiere).

Returning shows: Profile based on same show (either premiere or averages for originals).

New Series: Based on similar series.

A note about DVR penetration: DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample is currently at 48% in U.S. TV Homes. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which are increasingly not reflected in the overnight Live + Same Day numbers. As a result, the Live + 7 Day ratings are the most accurate Nielsen measure to gauge the size of the TV audience.

Source: The Nielsen Company, Fast Affiliate Live + Same Day Ratings for 03/09/16. 2015-16 L+3=9/21/15-2/28/16 and L+7=9/21/15-2/21/16.
