Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: "Got Talent," "Better Late Than Never" Top Charts

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (8/23/16):

NBC (9.833 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1) was the network to beat on Tuesday with the post-Olympics return of "America's Got Talent" (11.075 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.4, #1) and the premiere of "Better Late Than Never" (7.351 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2).

CBS (5.683 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2) then had to settle for second place with its trio of "NCIS" (7.299 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T4), "Zoo" (4.861 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T4) and "NCIS: New Orleans" (4.890 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6).

Next up was ABC (3.452 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2) and its mix of "Bachelor in Paradise" (4.854 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3), "Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise" (2.820 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6) and "The View: 20 Years in the Making" (2.682 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T9).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.274 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.4, #4) offered up repeats of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (1.354 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #8), "New Girl" (1.061 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T9) and "Lucifer" (1.340 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T9).

And finally, a repeat "The Flash" (0.884 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #12) and a new "MADtv" (0.656 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #13) closed out the night on The CW (0.770 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/5; "Late Show," 0.3/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 0.9/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/1 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.4/5 in metered-market households) tied CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.9/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 with an encore in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (8/25/15):

NBC (8.296 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) was the top draw on Tuesday with new editions of "America's Got Talent" (10.246 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1) and "Hollywood Game Night" (4.397 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2).

CBS (6.769 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2) then took home the silver with its trio of "NCIS" (8.379 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4), "Zoo" (6.267 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2) and "NCIS: New Orleans" (5.663 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #5).

Next up was ABC (2.376 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #3) with repeats of "Fresh Off the Boat" (2.709 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #6), another "Fresh Off the Boat" (2.210 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T7) and a new "Extreme Weight Loss" (2.335 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T7).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.840 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) offered up a new "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" (2.398 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #9) alongside repeats of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (1.406 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.4, #10) and "The Last Man on Earth" (1.159 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T11).

And finally, second runs of "The Flash" (1.127 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T11) and "iZombie" (0.506 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #13) on The CW (0.816 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former posted a 0.4 rating while the latter delivered a 0.1 rating.
