Among Millennial Men, the 20th Season Premiere was the Highest-Rated Cable Premiere in 2016
NEW YORK, September 21, 2016 - Last week's 20th Season premiere of "South Park" earned the iconic series its highest-rated episode since 2006, and was followed by the premiere of "Legends of Chamberlain Heights" which scored Comedy Central's highest-rated series premiere since the January 2014 launch of the legendary "Broad City."
With 3.7 million total linear viewers (P2+, Live+3), "Member Berries," the season 20 premiere of the Emmy(R) and Peabody(R) Award-winning "South Park" (September 14), was up +27% vs. the Season 19 premiere and up +31% among Adults 18-49 (3.0 Adults 18-49 rating). Among Millennial Men, the episode was the highest-rated cable premiere in 2016 (5.9 Men 18-34 rating, 1.5 million Men 18-34 viewers; 6.7 Men 18-24 rating, 729,000 Men 18-24 viewers), up +39% among Men 18-34 and a remarkable +64% Men18-24 vs. its season 19 premiere. Following the 20th Season premiere of "South Park" last Wednesday was the series premiere of the new animated series, "Legends of Chamberlain Heights," which instantly joined #1 brand in comedy's Honor Roll with the highest-rated series premiere for Comedy Central among Adults 18-49 since the January 2014 premiere of "Broad City." Compared to the series premiere of "Moonbeam City," which launched behind "South Park" last year, the linear performance of "Legends" was up +21% among total viewers and pulled in ratings that were +17% among Adults 18-49. "South Park's" historic season continues tonight with an all-new episode at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT in which the boys decide they have to take down Cartman and Skankhunt42 takes his reign of terror global (preview clip). Following "South Park" tonight at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT is an all-new episode of "Legends of Chamberlain Heights" in which Jamal, Grover and Milk team up with classmates to simulate their best parenting techniques on synthetic, robotic babies (preview clip).
