Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Holds Off Competition with NFL

Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (10/20/16):

CBS (10.079 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.9, #1) was the top draw on Thursday with its final week of "Thursday Night Football Pre-Game" (7.977 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.1, #T2) and "Thursday Night Football" (10.499 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.0, #1).

FOX (4.949 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) then bumped up to second place with its presentation of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again" (4.949 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.7, #4).

Next up was ABC (5.448 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) and its trio of "Grey's Anatomy" (8.063 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.1, #T2), "Notorious" (3.980 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T9) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (4.302 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5).

Meanwhile, NBC (5.304 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) offered up originals from "Superstore" (4.145 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #8), "The Good Place" (3.768 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T9), "Chicago Med" (6.614 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5) and "The Blacklist" (5.342 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #7).

And finally, new episodes of "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" (1.783 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11) and "Supernatural" (1.637 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11) on The CW (1.710 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #5) closed out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 ratings were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/4 with an encore; "Late Show," delayed by an NFL overrun; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 0.9/3 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," delayed by an NFL overrun. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," delayed by an NFL overrun.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

ABC (8.048 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.3, #2) then snagged the silver with originals from "Grey's Anatomy" (8.948 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.4, #4), "Scandal" (8.263 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.5, #3) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (6.932 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.0, #5).

Next up was NBC (4.813 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) and its trio of "Heroes Reborn" (3.790 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #8), "The Blacklist" (6.533 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #6) and "The Player" (4.115 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9).

Meanwhile, FOX (4.426 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) offered up new episodes of "Bones" (5.914 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #7) and "Sleepy Hollow" (2.939 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9).

And finally, fresh installments from "The Vampire Diaries" (1.231 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.5, #11) and "The Originals" (0.949 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #12) on The CW (1.090 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the evening.
