Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Tops Charts with New Lineup

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (10/27/16):

CBS (8.475 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) held onto the top spot on Thursday with the debut of its lineup of "The Big Bang Theory" (14.406 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.4, #1), "The Great Indoors" (9.249 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #3), "Mom" (7.587 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.6, #4), "Life in Pieces" (6.372 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.5, #5) and "Pure Genius" (6.617 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T8).

ABC (5.288 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) then was the silver draw with its trio of "Grey's Anatomy" (8.001 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.2, #2), "Notorious" (3.814 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T12) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (4.051 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T8).

Next up was NBC (5.450 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3) and its combination of "Superstore" (4.153 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.3, #7), "The Good Place" (3.891 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.1, #11), "Chicago Med" (6.836 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #6) and "The Blacklist" (5.492 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T8).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.133 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) offered up originals from "Rosewood" (3.357 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T12) and "Pitch" (2.910 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T12).

And finally on The CW (1.759 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #5), fresh installments of "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" (1.768 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T15) and "Supernatural" (1.750 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T15) closed out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/5; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.5/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.3/5 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.1/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (10/29/15):

ABC (6.861 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2) then claimed the silver with its annual telecast of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" (6.550 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.7, #5) followed by originals from "Scandal" (7.770 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.3, #3) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (6.262 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.8, #4).

Next up was FOX (5.470 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) with its crossover between "Bones" (6.377 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.3, #7) and "Sleepy Hollow" (4.564 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #8).
