Sunday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX Gets Boost from NFL Playoffs

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/8/17):

FOX (15.670 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.3, #1) got a huge boost on Sunday with its playoff driven "NFL Overrun" (36.491 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 11.4, #1) and "The OT" (32.061 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 10.1, #2) followed by new episodes of "The Simpsons" (12.707 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 4.9, #3), "Son of Zorn" (5.290 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 2.3, #5), "Family Guy" (4.069 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.8, #7) and "Bob's Burgers" (3.401 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 1.5, #8).

NBC (14.987 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 4.1, #2) then was the silver draw with its annual "Golden Globes Red Carpet" (9.760 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.2, #6) and "The 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards" (16.730 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 4.8, #4).

Next up was CBS (8.155 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) and its quartet of "60 Minutes" (8.214 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T10), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (10.354 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #9), "Madam Secretary" (8.900 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #13) and "Elementary" (5.154 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #15).

And finally, ABC (4.047 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) closed out the evening with "America's Funniest Home Videos" (4.598 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #14), "To Tell the Truth" (4.623 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T10), another "To Tell the Truth" (4.281 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T10) and "Conviction" (2.684 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.5, #16).

NBC (13.940 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 4.1, #2) then had to settle for second place with its "Golden Globes Red Carpet" (9.384 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.3, #5) and "The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards" (15.459 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 4.7, #3).
