3.43 Million Total Viewers Ranks It Among Highest-Rated New Cable Drama Premieres of The Past Year

Most Time-Shifted FX Series Premiere Ever in Adults 18-49 With +101% Live+3 Lift

LOS ANGELES, January 16, 2016 - The premiere of Taboo, the new FX drama series starring Tom Hardy, is among the highest-rated new cable drama premieres of the past year and the most time-shifted FX series premiere ever among Adults 18-49.

On a Live+3 basis, the premiere episode (Tuesday, January 10, 10:00-11:00 PM) delivered 3.43 million Total Viewers and 1.63 million Adults 18-49, making it the most time-shifted FX series premiere ever among Adults 18-49 (+101%) and the most time-shifted FX drama series premiere ever among Total Viewers (+86%).

The premiere of Taboo was one of the best new cable drama series premieres of the past year, ranking #4 in Adults 18-49 and #6 in Total Viewers. For the night among basic cable programs, the premiere ranked #1 among Men 18-34, #2 in Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54, and Men 18-49, and #6 in Total Viewers.

Taboo returns tomorrow night (Tuesday, January 17 at 10 PM ET/PT) with an all new episode on FX: Episode 2 - As James Delaney assembles his league of the damned, an unexpected arrival threatens to disrupt his plans. Written by Steven Knight; directed by Kristoffer Nyholm.

Set in 1814, Taboo follows "James Keziah Delaney," a man who has been to the ends of the earth and comes back irrevocably changed. Believed to be long dead, he returns home to London from Africa to inherit what is left of his father's shipping empire and rebuild a life for himself. But his father's legacy is a poisoned chalice, and with enemies lurking in every dark corner, James must navigate increasingly complex territories to avoid his own death sentence. Encircled by conspiracy, murder and betrayal, a dark family mystery unfolds in a combustible tale of love and treachery.

Taboo is created by Steven Knight with Tom Hardy and Chips Hardy, who is also the show's consulting producer. Executive producers are Ridley Scott and Kate Crowe for Scott Free Films, Tom Hardy and Dean Baker for Hardy Son & Baker, and Steven Knight, with Timothy Bricknell producing. Taboo is directed by Kristoffer Nyholm (Eps. 1-4) and Anders Engstr�m (Eps. 5-8), and reunites Hardy and Knight for their third collaboration following Locke and Peaky Blinders.

Taboo is produced by Scott Free Films and Hardy Son & Baker for FX and BBC One with Sonar Entertainment distributing worldwide outside the UK.
