ANIMAL PLANET DELIVERS PRIME TIME VIEWERSHIP GAINS IN APRIL
THE ZOO, RIVER MONSTERS and DR. JEFF: ROCKY MOUNTAIN VET Among April Programming Highlights
On the heels of year-over-year Prime Time ratings and viewership gains in March, Animal Planet delivers Prime Time increases of +9% (623,000 vs. 572,000) in Total Viewers P2+ in April vs. April 2016 in Live +3. The network also climbed five positions on the Adults 25-54 monthly ranker vs. March and broke into cable television's Top 30 (#30) for the month.
April programming that drove viewership increases included the April 8 season finale of freshman series, THE ZOO, which hit series highs among Adults 25-54 (0.46) and Women 25-54 (0.54). During the season (Feb. 18 - April 8) every episode averaged more than one million viewers with the season finale averaging 1.1 million Total Viewers, making THE ZOO the network's most watched series since The Last Alaskans (May-July 2015).
Other April highlights include DR. JEFF ROCKY MOUNTAIN VET, which ended its third season on April 22 and now stands as Animal Planet's #1 series for year-to-date among Total Viewers (1.3m); the April 23 season premiere of RIVER MONSTERS which drove Animal Planet to its strongest primetime ratings (0.56) among Adults 25-54 in nearly two years (5/25/15); and the April 9 season finale of freshman series NORTH WOODS LAW: NEW HAMPSHIRE which ranks as Animal Planet's highest rated freshman series among Men 25-54 (0.49) since The Last Alaskans (May-July 2015), with the season averaging more than one million viewers.
