Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX, "Empire" Keep Demo Crown

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (5/17/17):

FOX (4.520 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) was still the top demo draw on Wednesday with new episodes from "Shots Fired" (2.914 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10) and "Empire" (6.128 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1).

ABC (5.134 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) then claimed the silver with the season finales of "The Goldbergs" (5.273 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4), "Speechless" (4.499 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6), "Modern Family" (6.082 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T2), a preview of "Downward Dog" (4.700 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8) and the season finale of "Designated Survivor" (5.126 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8).

Next up was NBC (5.369 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) and its season finale for "Blindspot" (4.248 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10), a new "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (5.438 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6) and the season finale of "Chicago PD" (6.420 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #5).

Meanwhile, CBS (5.707 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) offered up new episodes of "Survivor: Game Changers" (8.157 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T2), "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" (4.860 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T12) and the season finale of "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders" (4.104 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T12).

And finally, new episodes of "Arrow" (1.445 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #14) and "The 100" (0.850 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.3, #15) rounded out the night on The CW (1.147 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.8/4; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.3/5 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.0/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/4 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/1.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (5/18/16):

FOX (7.735 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.7, #1) was the demo champ once again on Wednesday with a new "Rosewood" (4.692 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T8) and the season finale of "Empire" (10.778 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.0, #1).

CBS (8.655 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2) then claimed the silver with the finale to "Survivor: Kaoh Rong" (9.566 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.1, #T2) alongside the "Survivor: Kaoh Rong Reunion" (6.835 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T6).
