Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS, "Big Brother" Edge Out Competition

Here are the highlights of the 17 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (8/2/17):

CBS (4.587 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #1) held off the competition on Wednesday with new episodes of "Big Brother 19" (6.534 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1), "Salvation" (3.758 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T10) and another "Salvation" (3.470 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #15).

FOX (2.809 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #2) then was a close second with fresh installments from "MasterChef" (3.672 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2) and "The F Word with Gordon Ramsay" (1.947 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6).

Next up was NBC (3.378 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #3) with a repeat "America's Got Talent" (4.827 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) followed by a new "The Carmichael Show" (3.021 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #5) and second runs of "The Carmichael Show" (2.324 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6) and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2.634 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T10).

Meanwhile, ABC (2.588 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) opted for repeats of "The Goldbergs" (3.064 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6), "Speechless" (2.395 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T10), "Modern Family" (3.063 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4), "American Housewife" (2.574 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T6), another "Modern Family" (2.374 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T10) and another "The Goldbergs" (2.057 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T10).

And finally, rebroadcasts of "Arrow" (0.709 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T16) and "Supernatural" (0.631 million viewers, #17; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T16) rounded out the night for The CW (0.670 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.6/4; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.1/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.0/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 10 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (8/3/16):

NBC (6.353 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1) was still the top draw on a competitive Wednesday with new episodes of "America's Got Talent" (7.165 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) and "The Night Shift" (4.731 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #5).

ABC (5.535 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2) then was a close second with its annual "CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock" (5.535 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T3).

FOX (3.707 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2) likewise was in the hunt with its expanded two-hour "MasterChef" (3.707 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T3).

Meanwhile, CBS (3.669 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) offered up its trio of "Big Brother 18" (5.783 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1), "Criminal Minds" (2.700 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.6, #6) and "American Gothic" (2.524 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #7).

And finally, new episodes of "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.414 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T8), "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.372 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T8) and a repeat "Whose Line Is It Anyway?"
