Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX Tops Demos, CBS Leads Total Viewers

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (12/6/17):

FOX (4.851 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) edged out the competition on Wednesday thanks to new episodes of "Empire" (5.695 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T1) and "Star" (4.007 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6).

NBC (5.836 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T3) then was the number two draw with its mix of "A Very Pentatonix Christmas Special" (4.849 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #12), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (6.189 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #5) and "Chicago PD" (6.472 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6).

Next up was CBS (7.012 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) and its trio of "Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers" (8.933 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T1), "SEAL Team" (6.824 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T9) and "Criminal Minds" (5.279 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #11).

Meanwhile, ABC (4.633 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T3) served up originals from "The Goldbergs" (5.401 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.5, #4), "Speechless" (4.245 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T9), "Modern Family" (5.783 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.7, #3), "American Housewife" (4.557 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6) and "Designated Survivor" (3.907 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.7, #13).

And finally, new episodes of "Riverdale" (1.457 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #14) and "Dynasty" (0.691 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #15) over on The CW (1.074 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) rounded out the night.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.3/5 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.1/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

NBC (8.918 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.3, #1) jumped to the top spot on Wednesday with its telecast of "Hairspray Live!" (8.918 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.3, #2).

FOX (6.621 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2) then was the silver draw with new episodes of "Lethal Weapon" (6.245 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #5) and "Empire" (6.997 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.5, #1).
