Friday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Keeps Top Spot in Viewers, Demos

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/19/18):

CBS (8.709 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #1) was still the network to beat on Friday with originals from "MacGyver" (7.702 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1), "Hawaii Five-0" (9.072 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1) and "Blue Bloods" (9.352 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3).

FOX (2.703 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #2) then took home the silver with a new "Hell's Kitchen" (3.162 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) and a repeat "9-1-1" (2.246 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9).

Next up was ABC (3.671 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #3) and its trio of "Child Support" (3.846 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6), "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (2.405 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9) and "20/20" (4.764 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #5).

Meanwhile, NBC (3.384 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) offered up new episodes from "Blindspot" (3.550 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6), "Taken" (2.991 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #11) and "Dateline NBC" (3.610 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6).

And finally, The CW (1.035 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) opted for encores of "Black Lightning" (1.055 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T12) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.016 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T12).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/3; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.2/4 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.2/4 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (1/20/17):

CBS (7.667 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1) was the most-watched broadcaster on Friday with its mix of a "CBS News Special" (4.890 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T9), "Hawaii Five-0" (8.360 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3) and "Blue Bloods" (9.751 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2).

ABC (4.848 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1) however shared in the demo honors with its combination of "Last Man Standing" (6.921 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1), "Dr. Ken" (4.673 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3), a repeat "Shark Tank" (4.273 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3) and "20/20" (4.475 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #6).

Next up was NBC (3.350 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) and its trio of "Grimm" (4.230 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T7), "Emerald City" (2.791 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T9) and "Dateline NBC" (3.029 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T7).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.408 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) offered up originals from its dramas "Rosewood" (2.899 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #11) and "Sleepy Hollow" (1.917 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.5, #12).

And finally, new episodes of "The Vampire Diaries" (0.892 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.3, #13) and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" (0.557 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #14) on The CW (0.724 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the night.
