Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Holds Off Surge from ABC, "Scandal" Finale

Here are the highlights of the 17 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (4/19/18):

CBS (8.302 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1) edged out the competition on Thursday with its mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (12.601 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.4, #1), "Young Sheldon" (11.403 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2), "Mom" (8.809 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4), "Life in Pieces" (6.300 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T7) and "SWAT" (5.349 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #9).

ABC (5.922 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) then was a close second with new episodes from "Grey's Anatomy" (6.886 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3) and "Station 19" (5.449 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #6) plus the series finale of "Scandal" (5.432 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.3, #5).

Next up was NBC (3.121 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #3) and its combination of "Superstore" (2.846 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #10), "AP Bio" (1.943 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11), a repeat "Will & Grace" (1.800 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T15), "Champions" (1.657 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T15) and "Chicago Fire" (5.241 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T7).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.336 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) offered up fresh installments of "Gotham" (2.190 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11) and "Showtime at the Apollo" (2.481 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11).

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.4/5 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 0.9/3 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.1/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.2/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.1/1 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
