Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" Sparks NBC Victory

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (7/4/18):

NBC (6.603 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #1) claimed top honors on the holiday evening with its annual coverage of "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" (7.457 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1) followed by an encore of "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" (4.895 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T2).

CBS (4.162 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #2) then took home the silver with repeats of "Young Sheldon" (3.671 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T5), another "Young Sheldon" (3.595 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T5) followed by new episodes of "Big Brother 20" (3.907 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T2) and "Code Black" (4.948 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4).

Next up was ABC (1.846 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T3) with its repeat lineup of "The Goldbergs" (2.126 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T7), another "The Goldbergs" (1.677 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T7), "Modern Family" (1.718 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T7), "American Housewife" (1.572 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T7) and "Shark Tank" (1.993 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T7).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.530 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T3) offered up second runs of "MasterChef" (1.544 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T7) and "Gordon Ramsay's 24 Hours to Hell & Back" (1.517 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T7).

And finally, encores of "The 3rd Annual Howie Mandel Stand-Up Gala" (0.744 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.1, #T14) and "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (0.540 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.1, #T14) rounded out the evening on The CW (0.693 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.1, #5).

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 0.9/3 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.2/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.2/1 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/2 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (7/5/17):

CBS (4.717 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #1) was the top draw on Wednesday with a new "Big Brother 19" (6.071 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) alongside a repeat "Criminal Minds" (4.161 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3) and a second "Criminal Minds" (3.919 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T8).

NBC (3.871 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T2) then took home the silver with its mix of "Little Big Shots: Forever Young" (6.629 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2), "The Carmichael Show" (3.456 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3) and repeats of "The Carmichael Show" (2.737 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T8) and "This Is Us" (1.889 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #14).
