Friday's Broadcast Ratings: "Last Man Standing" Powers FOX to Demo Victory

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (10/5/18):

FOX (4.102 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #1) continued to get a boost on Friday with its new lineup of "Last Man Standing" (6.038 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1), "The Cool Kids" (4.842 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) and "Hell's Kitchen" (2.765 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3).

CBS (7.175 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.8, #2) then claimed the silver with its mainstays "MacGyver" (5.765 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #6), "Hawaii Five-0" (7.262 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3) and "Blue Bloods" (8.500 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3).

Next up was NBC (2.940 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T3) with encores of "Manifest" (3.017 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9) and "New Amsterdam" (2.625 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) plus a new "Dateline NBC" (3.179 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T7).

Meanwhile, ABC (2.411 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T3) served up the season premieres of "Fresh Off the Boat" (2.860 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T7), "Speechless" (2.445 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9) and "Child Support" (2.074 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) followed by a new "20/20" (2.506 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11).

And finally, the season finale of "Masters of Illusion" (0.863 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) led into repeats of "Masters of Illusion" (0.807 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (0.934 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) on The CW (0.884 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.0/3 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.2/4 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.2/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/2 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.1/1 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (10/6/17):

CBS (8.027 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T1) was the top broadcaster on Friday with its trio of "MacGyver" (6.390 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T4), "Hawaii Five-0" (8.369 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1) and "Blue Bloods" (9.322 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1).

NBC (4.874 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T1) however moved up to share the demo crown with a repeat of "The Voice" (3.473 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #9) and a new two-hour "Dateline NBC" (5.575 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1).

Next up was ABC (3.041 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #3) with the return of "Once Upon a Time" (3.261 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6) followed by week two of "Marvel's Inhumans" (2.773 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6) and "20/20" (3.089 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.111 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) served up originals from "Hell's Kitchen" (2.725 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T4) and "The Exorcist" (1.498 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #10).
