Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Tops Demos on Disrupted Night

Here are the highlights of the 19 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/8/19):

NBC (5.834 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1) led the demo race on a disrupted night thanks to the return of "Ellen's Game of Games" (6.505 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2) followed by an "NBC News Special" (7.030 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1), a repeat "Ellen's Game of Games" (5.490 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T3) and a new "New Amsterdam" (5.334 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T6).

ABC (4.443 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #2) then claimed the silver with its mix of "The Conners" (6.880 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T3), "The Kids Are Alright" (4.715 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T6), "ABC News Special" (4.432 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8), "Black-ish" (3.279 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T11), "Splitting Up Together" (3.778 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T11) and "The Rookie" (3.565 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T14).

Next up was CBS (7.860 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) with a new "NCIS" (11.704 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #5) alongside "CBS News Special" (8.043 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8) and repeats of "The Neighborhood" (4.819 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T14) and "NCIS: New Orleans" (5.536 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T14).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.754 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) served up "Lethal Weapon" (3.278 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T11), "FOX News Special" (2.562 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.8, #10) and "The Gifted" (2.231 million viewers, #17; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T14).

And finally, a repeat "Supergirl" (0.780 million viewers, #18; adults 18-49: 0.2, #18) and the special "EA Sports Madden NFL 19 Classic" (0.400 million viewers, #19; adults 18-49: 0.1, #19) rounded out the evening on The CW (0.590 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.5/3; "Late Show," 0.4/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.0/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.2/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.1/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (1/9/18):

NBC (8.202 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1) was the demo champ on Tuesday thanks to new episodes of "Ellen's Game of Games" (7.978 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.1, #2), "This Is Us" (9.700 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.7, #1) and "Chicago Med" (6.928 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4).

Second place then went to CBS (11.058 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) with its trio of "NCIS" (14.155 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #3), "Bull" (10.426 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #6) and "NCIS: New Orleans" (8.595 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T7).
