Friday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Tops Viewers, Shares Demo Honors with ABC

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (3/15/19):

CBS (6.957 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T1) claimed top honors on Friday thanks to new episodes of "MacGyver" (5.957 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T4), "Hawaii Five-0" (6.726 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2) and "Blue Bloods" (8.188 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2).

ABC (3.610 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T1) then shared the demo crown with its mix of "Fresh Off the Boat" (3.152 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #7), "Speechless" (2.422 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8) and a two-hour "20/20" (4.021 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T4).

Next up was FOX (3.251 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #3) with fresh installments of "Last Man Standing" (5.016 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #1), "The Cool Kids" (3.813 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T4) and "Proven Innocent" (2.088 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #12).

Meanwhile, NBC (3.193 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) offered up new episodes of "Blindspot" (2.832 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8), "The Blacklist" (3.550 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8) and "Dateline NBC" (3.196 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T8).

And finally, The CW (0.459 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.1, #5) closed out the evening with the return of "Dynasty" (0.548 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.1, #T13) and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" (0.370 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.1, #T13).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.4/2; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/3 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 0.9/3 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.3/4 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.5/2 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.1/1 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (3/16/18):

CBS (4.369 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1) was the network to beat on Friday with night two of its "NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament" (4.913 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1) coverage followed by "NCAA Men's Basketball Championship Update" (3.795 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) and more "NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament" (3.839 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2).

FOX (3.009 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #2) then was the silver draw thanks to a new "MasterChef Junior" (3.394 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) and a repeat "9-1-1" (2.625 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T5).
