"SPACE LAUNCH LIVE: SPLASHDOWN" MULTIPLATFORM EVENT SKYROCKETS TO #1 IN THE RATINGS FOR DISCOVERY

(New York) - The Discovery and Science Channel special multiplatform event, SPACE LAUNCH LIVE: SPLASHDOWN, skyrocketed with viewers and ranked #1 in all of television among Persons 25-54 during Sunday's live coverage as audiences around the world witnessed the incredible live splashdown of SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft. The multiplatform event - top rated among a wide range of demos, including millennials, core viewers, kids and families - simulcast live coast-to-coast on Discovery and Science Channel on Sunday, August 2 and was ranked #1 in its timeslot across all of television on Discovery among Persons and Men 25-54; #2 with Women 25-54, Persons/Men/Women 18-49, and Total Viewers P2+; and #3 among kids P2-11, no exceptions.

SPACE LAUNCH LIVE: SPLASHDOWN also broke into the top 10 in Total Viewers in all of television for the day, reaching over 4.3M total viewers P2+ across the two networks (3.4M on Discovery and 1.0M on Science). The multiplatform event also took social interactions sky high across both networks, making it the #1 (Discovery) and #2 (Science) most social non-sports telecasts for the day, with Discovery reaching 485K social interactions, and Science Channel marking its most social telecast ever with 468K social interactions for the day. SPACE LAUNCH LIVE: SPLASHDOWN fueled 5.6M social video views on Discovery, ranking #1 for the day overall - including sports - and reached 5.5M social video views on Science, ranking #2 for the day overall behind Discovery.

The live multiplatform event captured the first landing at sea for U.S. astronauts since 1975 as the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean on Sunday. The splashdown concludes NASA and SpaceX's Demo-2 mission, the first U.S. crewed mission to space on a privately built spacecraft.
